Out of Town Bags

June 2nd, 2010 @ 11:51 am by Mrs. Hermit Crab

We are having quite a few Out of Town guests, and there are a few things that we wanted to make sure to do to make their weekend more comfortable. In addition to reserving blocks at New York City hotels with better rates, we will be putting together Out of Town bags (OOT bags from here on - I always look at that acronym and think “oo-OOTOOT”) that will be waiting for them in their rooms. I have been brainstorming a list of things to put in the bags, however, I knew what I wanted the bags themselves to be.

It was important to both Mr. Hermit Crab and myself that these bags be environmentally friendly, and we decided early on to do canvas bags. I have a favorite image from our wedding that I wanted to put on the bags. Just in case we had several left over, I ordered the bags in three different colors: red, blue and black. I picked up the bags the other day and I can’t wait to share them with you. (All pictures are personal photos)

Do you recognize this design? I told you the map would be making another appearance! (Sorry that the red bag kind of blends in with our red table…)

I love how the bags came out - they are just the right size, and rather durable so hopefully people will use them for a long time. I also love how it was another opportunity to use the map and give people a keepsake from the wedding weekend. We’ll be filling those bags soon, so stay tuned to see them in action.

Are you having OOT bags? What did you put in them?

Those are awesome! Every time I see another post about OOT bags, it just continues to convince me that I NEED them! Originally they weren’t even on my radar, but I’m pretty sure I’ll have to make some. :)

we made oot bags too! I told my guest that we would provide everything for them!!! So we put shampoo, conditioner, shaving items, body wash, deodorants, toothpaste and toothbrushes, contact solution and asprin! I overbought though and recently listed my leftovers on here…but I didn’t want them to have to bring a ton of stuff and I thought it would also double as a nice gesture towards the people that travel far to be with us. Your bags are awesome!!!! We made baskets with the stuff we provided.
