About Mrs. Lobster

Welcome, Lobsterlettes!

June 3rd, 2010 @ 5:53 pm by Mrs. Lobster

Lobsterlettes: STOP READING HERE (until after the trip). Thanks!

As you know the girls and I are taking a trip to Atlantis. Woohoo, spring break SPRING BREAK!!! OK, most of us are about 10 years past our spring break prime. That doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun. To welcome my girls and thank them for coming, I decided to put together a small out-of-town bag:

I wish I had the foresight/budget to get this bag

My inspiration was the “out-of-town” bag. Also, my girls were coming from Washington, DC, San Francisco, and New York just to celebrate the end of my bachelorette-dom with me (let’s face it, most of them want to go to the Bahamas any excuse) but still they were spending their vacation days, and hard-earned money to get there!! So I really wanted to make a welcome bag as a very small token of my appreciation.

Target & Old Navy were my best friends in this project. While there, I stocked up on:

  • Cute gift bags
  • BPA-free water bottles - on sale!
  • Old Navy flip flops - on super sale! (like $1?)
  • Cooling aloe wipes or aloe gel - $1 in travel section
  • Ghirardelli chocolates

I chose Nalgene water bottles so my girls would stay hydrated in the hot sun and we’d save some money instead of buying bottled water (bonus: they can use them at home!), cheapie flip flops because I always forget my flops and they get grimey from the beach and chlorine, aloe wipes for those sticky afternoons when you need a refresher, and chocolate when you get back to your a/c-ed up room for a 5 pm pick-me-up between showering and dinner. Mmmmmm.

The supplies:

In case you don’t know me, I love me some polka dots

Since I won’t be assembling the bags until after I arrive in the Bahamas, here’s a mock-up:

Also imagine a handful of chocolate there

I will also attempt to make a very simple name tags to match the gift bags, designed on my trusty PowerPoint, of course:

Rut ro. How am I going to carry three Target bags of stuff onto the plane?

Did you make OOT bags for a bachelorette trip or your destination wedding? What did you put in yours?

Like amariem25, use a big bag.
I had to get a slightly-larger-than-queen sized t-shirt quilt on 3 connection trip this past winter, stuffed it in a big gift bag and I got a lot less looks then when the bag broke and I ended up carrying a giant quilt through the DFW airport.

We did bags for our DW - we had an extra suitcase that only carried OOT items!
