Cardbox Guestbook

June 3rd, 2010 @ 9:13 am by Mrs. Lace

With a few weeks left until the wedding, I was still crazy enough to tackle a DIY project. I didn’t want to have a traditional guestbook because I knew that I would never look at that again. I either want something sentimental, something that can be displayed or something that’s useful. There are tons of good ideas, but I really liked the idea of the address book box, and what better time to start one than when all your closest friends and family are gathered in one place?

On kraft paper, I printed the alphabet using our wedding stationery font and then used my handy dandy 1″ circle punch and punched them all out.

I made cards to put basic information on and put different wingdings at the top.

I cut cardstock to the size of the box and attached the letters.

Then I stuck it all in the box.

This had to be my easiest DIY project for the wedding because it used very few materials and very little time! So, I plan to have the three types of cards out on the table. Guests will use pen to fill out the info and then file it by last name in the box. I won’t be super anal about how they’re filed because knowing me, I’ll go through it after the wedding to alphabetize by first and last name. Yes, I am aware that I make life more difficult for myself. :)

What was your easiest DIY?

oooo, I am totally going to do this now! Not for the guestbook, but have everyone fill one out so we won’t have such a hard time gathering addresses for Christmas cards!

That is SUCH a good idea! Then I read you are a teacher-totally understandable! Teachers are just so organized!

@ktisthatbees: You might as well while you have everyone there right? As much as I love having everything online, I still just LOVE having an address book. :)

@Mrs. Pug: I never thought about that, but good call! I mean…I meant to do that. :) Our table numbers are actually letters of the alphabet so that goes well together.

@MsMamaBear: If we aren’t, chaos ensues! :)

I want to do one of these so bad! My FI would rather do the quilt, so we’re still trying to figure it out.

I am going to use this idea also. Though I am going to use it to help gather all the information for the invites for everything coming up (bridal shower, engagement party, oh and the wedding).

@pmerr: Oh a quilt! That’s really cute too.

@Tribble: Ooh that would’ve been good had I whipped this out earlier for my shower and stuff. Good idea though!

Super cute idea, what are you doing on the backs? You could have a space for the guests to write a message, sentiment, wish, or advice for you on the back, so that every time you pull out an address, you’ll get a nice little warm fuzzy.
