After a morning with my favorite women, it was time to get down to business—the business of beautifying!

Our hair and makeup team from Belleza arrived at 11:30, half an hour earlier than we had originally planned (how sweet is that!) and got to work turning our hotel suite into a makeshift salon. We had four hours to hair-ify and makeup-ify nine women.

And then, at 1:15, the knock I couldn’t wait to hear happened—the photographing dream team of Brian and Susan arrived, ready to photograph the day!

I was overly excited, as Brian of B. Scott Photography is not only a great photog but an awesome guy, and I couldn’t wait to meet Susan of Pretty Petals Studio, who was our second shooter for the entire wedding day.

After a few minutes getting oriented, the dream team began to capture us prepping and primping for the evening.

PF gettin’ her face did, though she doesn’t need a smidge of make up.

Brian asked me and some girls to step outside for a shot from the balcony. After harassing my girls (who were either no makeupped or half done) to join me, we got some sweet shots.

Then it was my turn to enter the chair. Oh yes, the hair chair.

Rocking the pink champagne. Goodness, I love champagne. I want some now. I’d also like to say that I have NO CLUE what I am confused about in this photo. Let’s pretend someone said “what is Mr. Pencils getting you for your wedding gift?” Remember this question when we return to this very scene later in the recaps…

KS getting beautified. Gorgeous girl.

Classic Pencils’ laugh. I don’t look good when I’m having fun; it’s a fact of life I’ve resigned myself too. At least Mr. P loves this face.

I love this photo that my photogs captured of my tattoo. I got it almost a year ago, with MIL Pencils, Uncle J (our officiant), BIL Pencils, while Mr. P and FIL Pencils watched on. It’s the Chinese character for Double Happiness. Mr. P speaks Mandarin and once told me the legend of the character and it stuck with me; it’s quite apropos for a wedding day photo. The character is traditionally red, and to me, signifies personal and professional happiness and contentment. If you’re interested, read the legend here.

Around 3 pm, most of the girls were ready to get dressed. They helped each other tie their bridesmaids dresses in a variety of ways. They all looked HOT!

Ah yes… that KS, CH, AP, Mama Pencils, AT, PF and MS. Gorgeous, ladies, gorgeous. Don’t kill me for posting this.

Oh are you saying “who made the amazing hair flowers that all of Pencils’ bmaids are rocking?” Of course you are—they are by the talented Silver Pencils Etsy artist, otherwise known as Mrs. Espresso!

After a while, it proved my hair and makeup was going to take bit longer… and Brian captured one of my favorite photos of the whole day.

I admired my girls’ from afar…

And got my hair braided… there was a slight interruption in this chair… but again, you’ll have to wait and see what that was!

Soon, it was proving that we were going to need to complete the hair while my make up was applied. So slowly, we moved to the makeup chair and many, many hands began to finish my wedding day look.

Oh yes, I donned fake eyelashes. Best.Decision.Ever.

I love this shot of my braid. I think it added a great touch of sweetness and hippie-ness to my wedding ’do. It’s not everyone’s boat though!

As time was running out (in my mind, planned timeline way), I made a last minute check of my make up, hair and overall look. I was happy, beyond happy. Lots of emphasis on the eyes—just what I had envisioned.

The salon artists solidified my hair. (My hair is straight. As a stick. It doesn’t do humidity and curl well. It happened to be a 90 degree day- oh well, it lasted for six hours at least- you’ll see!)

The girls were ready. It was time to move out to Morningside to get me in my dress. But what were the guys doing all this time? Just you wait and see…
