Mrs. Trail Mix's Picture
Mrs. Trail Mix, New York Age and Occupation: 26, PE Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, MBA Student Engagement Date: March 2009 Wedding Date: June 2010 Venue: Tannery Pond at the Darrow School About Me: I'm a country girl who somehow found herself living in the Big Apple and loving every minute of it. I'm planning a rustic, country-chic wedding in my hometown in upstate New York and it's going to be a Party with a capital P. White wine, flea markets and running keep me happy and my friends, family and fiance are my world. I'm a little bit crafty, a little bit crazy but mostly just crazy in love.
About Mrs. Trail Mix

FOUR DAYS. Yes, those capitals are necessary because when one’s wedding is only FOUR DAYS away, it is impossible to think of it in any other way besides ALL CAPS. Anyways, I’m back home for the week and it’s so refreshing being upstate, away from the giant sauna that is Manhattan. We’ve been knocking down projects right and left and for the most part, it’s been smooth sailing.

However, there’s been some thorns in my side, a few arch nemeses, if you will. And so, with the wedding being FOUR DAYS away and all, here’s my assessment of the good, the bad and the ugly:

The Good - I feel loved. I’ve had so many texts, emails, phone calls, etc. and it’s wonderful to hear my friends get excited for this coming weekend. My dad baked 212 chocolate chip cookies to put into the welcome bags, resulting in numerous extras ready for consumption while warm from the oven (wedding diet, be damned!). My brother’s coming home from the West Coast on Wednesday. I’m so looking forward to being surrounded by my family and friends this weekend.

The Bad - weather.com is such a tease. Granted, I started checking the 10-day forecast about 2 weeks out (I know, it makes no sense, don’t ask me why) but the predicted weather has gone from a high of 82 and sunny to cloudy with 40% chance of rain to scattered thunderstorms, all within 2 days. Can you say roller-coaster much? Stop teasing me, Weather Channel, and make up your damn mind about whether I should implement my rain plan or not because my heart cannot take it much longer!

The Ugly- The Motherfucking (pardon my French but it’s really that bad) Seating Chart. Seating chart, if you can hear me, I hope you die a thousand cruel, miserable, torturous deaths and once that’s happened, I’ll stab you over and over with my ballpoint pen until you are really and truly dead. *Takes deep breath. And that’s all I have to say about that. :)

June brides, what’s your good, bad and ugly?

Awww, TM! First, I think it’s super cute that your dad baked all those choco-chip cookies! Yummo! And I totally understand about the obsessive weather-checking - hope it all works out for you!!

Hey, we are date twins! I never knew! The weather report for my wedding has gone from thunderstorms of Doom! to partly sunny.

Very soon we will be married women, which is really the best part!

Aw, I’m sorry your seating chart is stressing you out. Mr. Spaniel actually made ours and it was kind of fun. My mom made some requests that we tried to accommodate but couldn’t, so we just didn’t talk to her about it and it ended up fine.

love this post. you’re so close. that is so nice of your dad. hope weather.com becomes a little more decisive in letting you know whether to implement a rain plan (although i hope you get good weather, of course)!

HAHA

the good - knowing that all of my friends, family, loved ones are coming together in one place to celebrate me and my husband- love..makes it all worth it

the bad- im convinced that weddings and funerals can oddly bring out the worst in some people..with the best of intentions..I’m tired of dealing with other peoples bullshit and crazyness.. and I’m constantly obsessed with not eating something to make me wake up with a huge zit on my wedding day.

the ugly - the unhealthy obsession i have developed with trying to make sure I am on a clear skin diet–you have no f*(#ing idea how bad I want to eat a piece of pizza paired with a latte and followed by a chocolate chip cookie!! all of this…I hope and pray everything turns out the way I want it

Deep breaths. Everything will be ok. I had the same weather worries, and the forecast really isn’t accurate until about the day before. And we also had some problems with our seating chart, but in the end, it worked out. Again, deep breaths. Here’s hoping for beautiful weather :)

Your good bad and ugly are strikingly similar to mine! We’re date twins and even region twins - I think we are getting married broadly in the same area, so weather.com has been doing the exact same things! From “abundant sunshine” to scattered thunderstorms!

My FMIL baked a large number of cookies for our favors, just like your dad!

And yes, the seating chart has been a difficulty. But I think it’s all good (or good enough) now!

I’m mostly just excited at this point but trying to get packed up and not forget anything when I head over to NY state!

Time for open seating?

Otherwise it sounds like things are going well and kudos to your Dad for being such a baker! How sweet! Fingers crossed for a beautiful day!

Hey, I hear you on the seating chart. That was the worst part for me, too!

I’ll be getting married on the east coast in 5 days, so I also know what you mean about the weather. My fiance told me from the beginning not to look at it until 2 or 3 days out. I know it’s hard to plan that way - but it will change as the day gets closer!

In any case, you’ll be a married woman in 4 days! How incredible!

I know exactly what you mean about weather.com. I have been checking it like a crazy person and still stressing - looks like isolated or scattered thunderstorms. With less than 5 days left all I can do is just try and relax so it doesn’t go by too fast!

I got married 2 weeks ago in Syracuse and I stalked the weather channel for 2 weeks also. The first few days there was 0% rain. 0%!!! In Syracuse, what are the chances? Well, by 4 days before the wedding, the chances were back up to 60%, as I would have expected. But, the wedding day was absolutely perfect, not a drop of rain and not even too cloudy. It’s upstate, if you don’t like the weather, wait 5 minutes. Stop checking the weather- it’ll be beautiful.

You are scaring me, Miss TM…my wedding isn’t till the end of the month, and so far I haven’t touched the seating chart with a ten-foot pole. Ah!

You made me smile this afternoon. We are getting married this weekend in the Ithaca area. Thankfully my ugly won’t be the same as I REFUSE to do a seating chart for our 60 person wedding. Lets see… the good - My family is all getting here and we now have the vineyard’s lake house for the rest of the week., the bad - I’m trying to get all my work done to be on track while I’m gone (grumble having people working under you), the ugly - running all the last minute errands! GRUMBLE. Enjoy the rest of the week.

OMG, four days!? I have 18 and I’m stressing.

Good - I have all my FIY projects done/organized and my step-mother’s wonderful friend has volunteered to help set everything up and act as a DOC for me!

Bad - I’m super impatient on the last RSVPs. I still have to finish my ribbon boards and the sooner everyone is accounted for, the sooner my last project is done! Are you coming or not?

Ugly - Trying to loose weight to fit into my dress since I gained weight the last two months. For me, stress = eating. So, yeah, I’m basicially eating two little meals a day from now until the wedding.

LOL - stress = poor grammar.

FIY = DIY, duh!
