Mrs. Cowboy Boot's Picture
Mrs. Cowboy Boot, Santa Fe Age and Occupation: 25, Magazine Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Artist and Whitewater Rafting Guide Engagement Date: April 28th, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2009 Venue: Devil's Thumb Ranch, Colorado About Me: I grew up in Los Angeles and have since lived in San Diego, Boston, Italy, Hawaii, New York City, and Santa Fe. I speak Italian and love pasta. My real passion is the outdoors, though. When I'm not at work, I'm snowboarding, hiking with my two dogs, mountain biking, surfing, cross-country-skiing, or boating New Mexico's rivers. Despite my boyish love for adventure, I'm a girly-girl at heart and am overly-excited to pull off the romantic, vintage-inspired, country wedding of my dreams.
About Mrs. Cowboy Boot

Nine months. Can you believe it’s been nine months since our wedding? It feels like yesterday I was still stamping out-of-town bags and collecting jars for our centerpieces. No matter that married life has taken a hold of us, I can’t stop noticing wedding-related goodies—and I’m feeling the need to share. Here are a few things I kinda, sorta wish I had when I was in the planning process.

For the decor…

A wedding planner. Not just a day-of-coordinator, but someone to design the event for you. I had fun DIYing, don’t get me wrong, but it would’ve been fun to have had a life the summer before our wedding, too. Who would I have chosen? More than likely, local Santa Fean Jessie Abrams Baca. Just get a look at this eye candy.

For the invitations…

Paperjules.com. I just stumbled across this stationer and her work is adorable. It reminds me of summer in all of its carefree, fun-loving spirit. Not only does she offer custom invitations, she also has custom e-invitations for eco-friendly weddings!

For the bridesmaids…

Sample gift certificate from Joyofspa.com

Joyofspa.com. I so wish I’d known about this option when I was handing my ladies their gifts. If you’re like me, your bridesmaids—and I had five—are spread across the country. I had two in Los Angeles, one in Boulder, Colorado, one in Upstate New York and one in Brooklyn. This website lets you buy gift certificates towards spa treatments, no matter the location of the recipient. They have a database of spas across the country (even in tiny Santa Fe) that participate in accepting their gift certificates and the cool thing is that most of the spas are independent so, by buying this, your also supporting your bridesmaids’ local economy.

Did you find anything after your wedding you wish you’d done? How about something you just can’t go without on your wedding day if it hasn’t happened yet?

That is such a great idea with the spa! I actually went with my MOH to a salon/spa the day before the wedding and I will tell every bride it is a must! It was such a great way to relax the day before and spend more time with my OOT MOH! There were some things we wanted to do, like a picture frame to hold up while taking some pictures but we had a wonderful day that Ill never forget!

Interesting post! Your wedding looked so perfect, but it’s great to hear what you would have done differently :)

i can’t believe it’s been nine months! i totally feel where you’re coming from on the planner part– designing this whole thing was what i wanted to do, but i have not had the amount of time to dedicate 100% of myself to planning.

haha it’s funny that you say you sometimes wish you had a planner. I actually did hire a planner, and yet I still feel the need to constantly find inspiration ideas and DIY-ing myself to death!! (I am doing a pie bar thanks to viewing your amazing one). It’s great to see you around the hive again!! Post more often!!

BTW - you did NOT need a planner for your wedding, it was picture perfect, really . . .

we were the first of our friends to get married, and our families (esp my side) are too chinese-y to have a church ceremony, so i had no clue about weddings before our own. there are many things i would have done differently, but no regrets about how it turned out because we love each other and it was a fantastic day with friends and family, and we’re off to celebrate 5 years in august!! and the kiddos are a great addition too. ;)

Hi there. I’m getting married in Santa Fe in August at Encantado Resort. My fiance and I have never been to Santa Fe, we’re taking a chance and going for it. With that said, I need help with a few things and would love your advice on the following:

-Minister
-Rehearsal Dinner Spot
-Hotel in Santa Fe (looking for a place to accomodate 10 guests)
-Hair and Makeup

I’ve hired Andrea Soorikian to take care of flowers/decor and I contacted Jessie Abrams Baca (as you suggested above).

I’ve been following your postings since November 09′ - you were such a beautiful bride and your wedding was absolutely gorgeous….which is why I trust your advice :)

THANK YOU.
