Contemplating the PWC

June 9th, 2010 @ 5:06 pm by Mrs. Buttons

I’ll be honest: I’ve been thinking about this day almost as long as I was planning the wedding.

I’m talking about the PWC. Oh, the glorious PWC… how I’ve dreamed about it longingly. I started growing my hair out in February of 2009; around the time when the chatter of engagement began with Mr. Buttons. I knew I’d want to sport an updo of some sort on the wedding day, and I knew that I’d need to start early to get the length necessary. This is how my hair looked after my last REAL haircut… a chin length inverted bob with long bangs:

This is how it looked about one year after that (in November 2009) - my bangs had grown out, and my hair was at shoulder level:

And this is what it looked like 2 weeks ago… right before the wedding:

It is LONG (for me at least)! I’ve joked around with many people that I was about ready to take a pair of kitchen scissors to it on a daily basis. I’m SO ready for a new look!

But… what should I do? It has been about a year and a half since I tried to have some sort of “style” with my haircut. I am not sure which direction I should go now! I have grown somewhat attached to the “longer” length of my hair; it is useful to have the ability to put my hair in a ponytail/clip because of the heat in Florida. However, I need some SHAPE in it, and Mr. Buttons agrees.

I have an appointment for my PWC tomorrow afternoon (eek!), and I am desperately searching the Internet for some inspiration! Come on hive, help me out! Lets find some inspiration photos for medium length, straight hair! Here is what I’ve compiled so far…

This reminds me of my old haircut… I like the long bangs swept to the side…

I am fond of the layers in Sienna Miller’s hair; even though it is long, it does have some shape!

I’m also throwing around the idea of shorter bangs… I’ve had them in the past as well. I rather like the look of Anne Hathaway’s in this photo:

Again, the side-swept bangs…

Finally, what I think is one of my favorite photos so far - a “long version” of the inverted bob (aka shorter in the back than in the front) with long side-swept bangs

So… what do you think? Do you have any inspiration photos to share? Send them along!

Did you have a PWC? How did it feel and did you have a hard time finding some inspiration???

I am planning on using Tina Fey for some direction and I have long straight boring hair right now which I hate!

I’m a fan of the longer inverted bob, I have one as well and I get a ton of compliments, I also live in FLORIDA and its super cute to through up into a ponytail with my bangs swept to the side.

I HATE my hair right now. I look just like Donna from that 70’s show - long, straight, red, parted in the middle. Only 18 more days of suffering with long hair, then a CHOP before the honeymoon!

I’m going for mine today! Return of the bangs! I’ve missed them.

I did I did! I donated my hair which made it even better. I will admit I regret getting bangs… so much work!

I actually can’t get my curly hair to grow much past my shoulders and I couldn’t take the length anymore! Sooo, last week I had the stylist take off 2″ and I love it! But, it’s not a PWC, I’m getting married in September but don’t care, I’ll work with it! :)

I love the way your hair looks in Nov 2009 with the side picture. I also like the Hayden picture and the Lauren picture. The Lauren picture is something I havent seen and I think it looks similar to your hair in Nov 2009. You’re so beautiful no matter how your hair looks though!

I really like the Hayden cut. I am counting down the days until I can PWC it up!

What about this, but with a side-swept bang?

Or this?

Or even this…maybe with a straight-ish bang?

Or, with a little bit more texture…?

And finally, depending on how short you want to go…I’m kind of crushing on Hayden’s hair here:

I wish you lots of luck with your PWC! I’m sure that whatever you end up with, you will look absolutely gorgeous. As for the straight bangs vs. side-swept…you have such a lovely face shape that I’m sure you could pull off anything. Personnaly, I’m a bit partial to these:

Mrs buttons - how long is your hair in the back?? I have the same hair cut (inverted that is) and it has grown out about the same length in the front but I keep worrying it isnt long enough in the back to do anything with! My hair in the back is about to my shoulders and I have 2 more months of growing out. Please give me some hope that Ill be able to do something! I have actually saved your hair trials pics for inspiration since our hair seems to be similar!

@clarebee: I think you’ll be just fine! My hair is almost 3 inches down my back at this point…its killing me! However, my hair stylist assured me that i had more than enough length; we added some “extra” hair on the day of the wedding and it looked awesome! Your stylist should be able to work some wonders on you even if your hair isn’t super long!

THank you! That puts my mind at ease :-) Mine was a trim gone wrong that the stylist made into a short inverted bob only 9.5 months before the wedding!! Luckily, I started taking prenatal vitamins and theyve really helped with my hair growth!!

Go with the short(er) bangs! They are fun and classic. I had them before my wedding but have been growing them out for more side swept fun. Good luck! You’ll look great whatever cut you choose.
