Mrs. Lobster's Picture
Mrs. Lobster, Brooklyn Age and Occupation: 29, Finance Girl Fiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Finance Boy Engagement Date: July 25, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Stage 6 Steiner Studios About Me: I'm a New York-born, Virginia-bred girl who's found her way back to the big city. Mr. Lobster and I met in grad school and have been together ever since. I'm clueless about DIY but am an avid online shopper and love all things polka dots, stripes, and ruffles! When I'm not making wedding lists, you can find me looking for snacks, watching Gilmore Girls, or hanging out with Mr. Lobster and our new puppy Buddy! We are planning a fancy-pantsy Brooklyn wedding for a hot New York summer night which is sure to be a misadventure in the making.
About Mrs. Lobster

After a long hard day of sitting by the pool, my dear sisters pulled another surprise out of the mysterious cardboard box and handed me this with my 5PM cocktail:

Girls Gone Mild II - Pass. Fail. Good Enough. : wedding bachelorette party brooklyn Untitle01 Untitle01

Exsqueeze me? I didn’t even want to know what was in it. But I looked (reluctantly) and saw about 15 “must dos” that involved a lot of random strangers and just general embarrassment. As a last minute addition, Lob-sister J made signs that said “Pass”, “Fail”, or my fave “Good Enough”. The photographic highlights are next:

  • Pet and/or feed a stingray.

Petting starfish = “Good Enough” because we’re not allowed to touch the sting rays

  • Get a guy to buy you a drink.

Scared eyebrows. Scared Lobster. Pass!

  • Wear the bachelorette sash at dinner.

Madly concentrating on Johnny Rocket’s onion rings messing up the picture… Pass!

  • Wear your candy t-shirt (yes, we made one for you)

Girls Gone Mild II - Pass. Fail. Good Enough. : wedding bachelorette party brooklyn Img 476 IMG_476

Too heavy to wear since the candies were held up with tape. We ate them for lunch. Good enough!

  • Have a guy put lipstick on and give you a kiss!

An unsuspecting stranger. That would be NARS in Belize for that nude pink color. Pass.

  • Convince a guy/guys to serenade to you.

Girls Gone Mild II - Pass. Fail. Good Enough. : wedding bachelorette party brooklyn Img 22401 IMG_22401

The same guy kindly sang me a tune. Pass.

  • Get a guy to braid your hair.

That is what happens when you ask a guy to braid your hair. Pass.

  • Get a dolphin to kiss you. (Now, what’s going to be your pick-up line?)

Girls Gone Mild II - Pass. Fail. Good Enough. : wedding bachelorette party brooklyn Img 80201 IMG_80201

A last day challenge! We were too late to book our dolphin experience. Good enough!

  • Swim around the pool with floaties (yes, we bought some for you).

I would recommend this. It was relaxing and fun. Pass!

  • Recreate a part of Justin Bieber’s music video in Atlantis. (you know you’ve seen it.)

I actually haven’t so was unable to complete this challenge. Lol.

  • Have a guy rub sunblock on you.

Girls Gone Mild II - Pass. Fail. Good Enough. : wedding bachelorette party brooklyn Img 47601 IMG_47601

These married guys at a bachelor party were nice enough to indulge me. Pass!

  • Put sunblock on a guy’s back.

I must have scared them away because they left shortly after this. It’s a Pass.

Though I was initially reluctant to participate, the challenges were a lot of fun. I am grateful for everyone who came on the trip. It was truly a memorable experience and something I’ll never forget. Thank you so much, girls! I really can’t express how lucky I am to have such great family and friends!

What are you looking forward to the most at your bachelorette party?
