And I’m also really bad at coming up with titles for posts.
Hello hive!
I’m very, very (extra very), excited to be a bee. Allow me to introduce myself: I’m a New Zealander (you know, from that weird little country down at the bottom of the world where Miss Veggie also lives). However, I have spent the majority of my life in Indonesia. I moved back to NZ just over two years ago to study English and linguistics at university. I originally wanted to be a journalist, but a lecturer told me I was much better at fiction than fact (ha!) so straight after my man and I get married I will be starting my Masters in creative writing. Needless to say, I’m a nerd and a good way to get me excited is to talk about phonemes, bilabial fricatives, and free indirect discourse (I swear one of the major reasons I like linguistics and literature is that the terms sound so dirty). Dessert is the most important meal of my day, I like to do crafts in bed, and one of my favourite pastimes is cafe-hopping with my fiancé.

Speaking of fiancé… Mr. Earrings (henceforth to be called Mr. E) and I met at high school in Indonesia.
He is Californian to the core, has a sexy fro (well I think it is sexy, so there), and moved to New Zealand at the beginning of this year to study photography and be with me. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but I am pretty sure we are the youngest couple currently in the community of Weddingbee bloggers. I never expected to get married young, but hey, I’m not complaining. We have been together for almost four years now, weathered the storms of 2.5 of those years being spent long distance, and now we are so excited to be planning our eclectic vintage garden wedding for January (during New Zealand’s summer). He’s the laid back one in the relationship, I’m the slightly (OK, more than slightly) type-A one, and together we just work. It is so important to us that our wedding has our personalities all through it. For me, that means having LOTS of chocolate goodies, lace, vintage china and quirky details. For him that means having Swedish Fish candy somehow involved (we are working on that one…), a first dance under the trees, and ultra-good food. For both of us it means staying true to ourselves and not buying into what other people might say our wedding “has” to be.

As we are both students, that means a student-like budget. In other words: not a big one. But we are finding having a small budget means we are doing things more creatively than we otherwise might have done. I’m all set to get up to my elbows in DIY projects and thrifting expeditions, and who knows what else.
Why Miss Earrings? Ever since I was 10, when I first got my ears pierced, my earrings have been my “signature” accessory. I think it is because my dad thinks long dangly earrings are the prettiest jewelry a girl can wear and he would often spoil my mother, my two sisters and me with new ones on unexpected occasions. I feel naked without my earrings, so it only made sense to pick the accessory that I am never without!
Well, that is me all introduced. Now I can’t wait to get started on the good stuff!
