Ahem, hi! Sorry, I get a little zealous sometimes.
Let’s try that again.
Howdy, hive! I’m Miss Cardigan, and if you can’t tell, I’m just a little bit excited to “bee” here! (I know, I know. I just couldn’t resist!) I’ve been reading the ’bee (and actively participating!) for close to a year now and I’ve been dreaming of being a bee ever since I got engaged. I’m so incredibly honored to be here, and I am thrilled I get to share my wedding with such an awesome community!
When I got the email from Pengy saying that I had been accepted, I didn’t even know what to do with myself. I only got far enough in the email to see “think you’d be a great addition to the Weddingbee team” and then I started jumping up and down and immediately called Mr. Cardigan and started screaming some nonsense at him about bees and cardigans. When he finally deciphered what I was saying, he first told me that he was excited for me, and then let me know that “Mr. Cardigan” is not a very manly name. I think he was hoping for “Mr. Tool Belt” or something. After I told him (and everyone else I could think of) I went back to work babysitting (I’m a part time nanny this summer). I did my best to focus, but I couldn’t stop myself from doing some random victory dances every few minutes. I’m pretty sure the kids thought I had lost my mind.
I went through the rest of my day in a cloud of excitement and couldn’t get my mind off my new status as a bee. I was so excited, in fact, that on the way home from work I wasn’t paying attention to how fast I was driving and I got a speeding ticket. Awesome.
Then, I walked through the door and couldn’t even see Mr. Cardigan, because the entire apartment was filled with smoke - he was making fried chicken and overheated the oil. (He is adamant that I explain that it was the fault of the thermometer, not him. He is an excellent cook.
) So, needless to say, my first day as a bee was full of ups and downs - but nothing could get me too upset, because I’M A BEE!!
So, why Miss Cardigan? Well, let me tell you about it. You see, I have an embarrassingly large collection of cardigans, and I wear them all. the. time. I don’t know if it’s the teacher in me or what, but I love cardigans of any type! Plus, the icon is yellow which just so happens to be my favorite color! And now, here’s the part where I prove to you what a huge nerd I am and show you my cardigan collection. Are you ready?

There are 20 of them. I counted.
See? I think I have a problem.
Anyways, let’s get down to business. Meet Mr. Cardigan and me:

That’s us!
We met my sophomore (and his freshman) year in high school (that’s right - I’m older!) and started dating pretty soon after. We’ve been together for about 4 1/2 years now, and I’m so excited that we’re finally getting married! Mr. Cardigan and I were that couple in high school that everyone kind of hated because we were just so lovesick. He said the “L” word a mere two months into our relationship, and we were talking marriage before my senior year even started. When I graduated in 2007 and left Austin to attend college at A&M, we were suddenly in a long-distance relationship! We survived that, and he soon joined me up in College Station, and we couldn’t be happier now!
Mr. Cardigan & I have two dogs that are basically our children. We adopted Cullen almost a year and a half ago from the local animal shelter. He’s a cocker spaniel/chihuahua mix, and he’s the best cuddler EVER!

His favorite spot to sleep!
In March, we decided Cullen needed a little brother. We stumbled upon Ranger on Craigslist one day and I begged Mr. C to get him for me. He’s a lab/German shepherd puppy, and he was a mere 7 weeks old when we brought him home, and weighed 18 pounds!

Meeting his big brother for the first time!
Now, Ranger is 4 months old (and a whopping 42 pounds!) and he fits in perfectly with our little family. Mr. Cardigan and I are a little bit obsessed with our furbabies!

Aren’t they adorable?!
Mr. Cardigan and I are planning a bright and cheerful wedding in the middle of the dreary Texas winter. I’m not a big believer in the practice of basing your decor on what “fits” the season, so we’re ditching the winter hues in favor of the colors that make us smile (mostly a lot of yellow!). This wedding has been a long time coming, and we’re thrilled to finally be planning it. It’s going to be a wedding full of DIY projects, personal touches, bright colors, and a ton of fun!
I’m SO thrilled to be here, and I can’t wait to share all of our wedding details with y’all!
