The very first thing that I did upon getting engaged was decide on our wedding colors. I find this kind of ironic, because I’ve spent most of my life insisting that I don’t have a favorite color, and that I think the whole concept is just silly. Why pick just one favorite color? I love ‘em all!
I’m not quite sure what happened that made me decide on a favorite color, but I did: yellow. It’s bright, it’s happy, and it just makes me smile. That’s a good enough reason for a favorite color, right? Plus, this just so happened to be right around the time that I was starting to look at wedding stuff (well before Mr. Cardigan proposed… I’m just being honest!) and I was in love with all of the yellow and gray inspiration boards I was seeing all over the place. So, that may have influenced me a bit.
Once I decided that yellow was my favorite color, I knew I had to incorporate it into our wedding. I love that it adds such a bright punch, and it really just makes me feel a little giddy. That’s the perfect mood to create on our wedding day, no? So, the day after Mr. C proposed, I announced to him that I wanted to use yellow and gray as our wedding colors. He cluelessly agreed, and it was decided!
Yellow and gray it is!
Surprisingly, even though I knew immediately what I wanted our colors to be and I really wanted an inspiration board, I took my sweet time putting one together. Why? I think it’s because I was completely intimidated by all of the amazing boards I’ve seen here on Weddingbee and on Snippet & Ink. I was feeling the pressure… what if mine was ugly? But then, I found this post by Mrs. Lemon, and I thought that just maybe that was something I could handle. I started pulling all of the random photos I had saved on my photo into the inspiration board, and I was afraid that I was going to have one hot mess as a result.
However, I was surprisingly pleased with the results!

Notice the cardigan? Yeah, I told you I’m obsessed. This mood board makes me smile every time I look at it, because it perfectly captures exactly how I want our wedding to feel: vibrant, bright, fun, and HAPPY! Many of the photos you see served as some serious inspiration for various parts of our wedding, and I can’t wait to share with you how they all come into play!
Were you as nervous as I was to create an inspiration board? If so – check Mosiac Maker – it’s totally foolproof!
