Mrs. Pencils's Picture
Mrs. Pencils, Washington DC/Frederick, MD Age and Occupation: 24, Program Director, Education Non Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Administrative Assistant, Ocean Conservation Non Profit Engagement Date: July 26, 2008 Wedding Date: May 2010 Venue: Morningside Inn About Me: I'm a nerdy Northwestern girl who always knew she was meant to live in the East, harboring a deep love of ice cream, underwear, Diet Coke with a splash of Coca-Cola, pashminas, scrapbooking, stationery, wall calendars and books written for preteens. I think every day should include good thin crust pizza, chocolate, an obscure historical monument, lots of laughter, a dash of wedding planning and, of course, amazing Mr. Pencils! I'm loving the adventure of planning a Maryland wedding and Rocky Mountain reception, and most of all, I just love love!
About Mrs. Pencils

The moment had come. Through all of the planning, vendor-searching, wedding frenzy, the moment I had most looked forward to was our actual wedding ceremony. This small part of the whole day was THE most significant, meaningful part of the whole experience and I couldn’t wait for it to begin.

After our portraits, my girls and I waited inside the brides’ room, anticipating the moment we’d walk down the aisle. We watched, incognito, as guests arrived and were seated. I love this sneaky shot my photog snagged. I really have the most gorgeous friends.

The sun was setting just as the ceremony began. It lowered the 90 degree temps to something more bearable and made it much more comfortable for our family and friends.

Oh so quickly, the seats were full and it was six thirty (maybe even a few minutes past, I certainly wasn’t keeping track). I love this photo of our mutual friends from Alpha Phi Omega, the community service fraternity Mr. P and I had spent much of our college time with.

The music began and our ordained-online-reverend and Mr. P’s uncle John graced the aisle.

Mr. P, looking so dapper, and his groomspeople, followed right behind. You can see his life-long friend and brother-from-another-mother Andrew and dear friend Megan behind him.

Next, the readers made their way to their seats. Mr. P’s cousin Kara and my former roomie from Baltimore Claire looked gorgeous carrying their personally composed readings.

Both Mr. P and I have Uncle Marks. They came next, each escorting their mothers (our grandmothers) down the aisle. I just loved their bright colors!

And of course, the magnificent mothers, escorted by the handsome Brother of Honor, Colin, and Best Brother-Man, Scott.

Just as the sun was setting, my bridesmaids graced the stone steps. My college roomie and bestie Alison started the procession, but we didn’t capture any photos of her down the aisle. She was tan and gorgeous though! Second came my longest friend Katie.

After Katie came my closest friend from my two years of teaching in Baltimore, Paige.

She puts my bridal glow to shame with her natural beauty.

The girls were told by our coordinator to pause for a few seconds at the top of the stairs before walking down the aisle. My college roomie Ann Marie did it ever so well.

And last but not least, my best friend from high school Cara. I think she was designed to wear a flower behind her ear—so beautiful.

And then, they were all lined up, with my Brother of Honor gracing the head of the line. The first sounds of Canon in D were heard and everyone looked to the stairs…

I was about to begin my descent down the aisle to my future husband. Here we go.

Thanks everyone!@stephbolt: TOTALLY AGREE!
@Sunshine: thanks for your opinion but I was going for a relaxed vibe and my girls loved wearing them, as they were comfortable all night! It also added a great splash a bright color to their dark dresses. To each their own!
