Mrs. Hot Wings's Picture
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
About Mrs. Hot Wings

Over six weeks ago, I wrote about the 100 Push Up Challenge. I should be reporting completion of the program by now, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about today. Instead, I’m here to report on all the distractions that have kept me from becoming the badass I really wanted to become.

First, Mr. Hot Wings and I moved. The process of moving did quite a number on all the muscles in my body. Next time I move, remind me to make an appointment for a massage afterwards.

The movers took our material things, moved them into storage for a couple weeks, and will meet up with us again at the end of the month. In the meantime, we’re staying with Wingman B. He’s been incredibly generous to let us stay with him for a couple weeks.

Unfortunately for my 100 Push Up Challenge, he has offered more than just a place to rest our heads. He’s offered Nintendo Wii entertainment! Check out our Wii Mii characters and compare mine with my bio picture. Is it close? How about Mr. Hot Wings?

You already knew my attraction to the 100 Push Up Challenge had everything to do with the Challenge part. So how could I say no to Wii competition? I couldn’t!

Check out my Mii character being all badass at table tennis!

Thanks Wingman B, you’ve messed up my 100 Push Up Challenge and gotten me all kinds of addicted to Wii.

It’s “fitness” of a different kind.

100 Push Up Challenge Distraction : wedding fitness san diego 41 IMG_3348

My poor arms and shoulders are so sore after playing Wii that I don’t have the strength to do my push ups. It feels like it’s working out my upper body unevenly, too! My right-handedness is definitely affecting this “workout”. Did I mention that I’m not actually doing Wii Fitness? I’m just playing the regular Wii games.

Do you think just playing Wii is going to tone me up enough for wearing a strapless wedding dress?

How’s everyone else doing with their 100 Push Up Challenge? Can we officially call you a badass, or did you have some distractions, too?

Don’t feel too bad. I tried to complete this back in 2008, but ended up throwing out my back for a good week. Ouch. Better wii and sorry!

I’ve been doing it semi-regularly, and just got my boyfriend to join in. We’re rocking Week 4 right now and it’s definitely kicking my ass. But you know, in a good way.

Wii is the best! But it definitely gives you a better workout on one side, haha. I think you’re golden if you just switch arms every once in a while ;-)

I’m not doing the challenge, but your posts did inspire me to start doing push ups again during commercial breaks. : ) So thanks for that!

Wii boxing makes my arms hurt, far more than it should.

Hahaha. I don’t think I’d get anywhere near successful with the 100 push up challenge, but Wii I can handle :)

I’ve actually been keeping up with the challenge pretty well, though I’m nowhere near being able to do 100 pushups in a row. I have noticed a difference in my ability to keep up in my gym classes, though, when it comes to upper arm strength stuff!

You guys should play a “wrong handed” competition - so you can use your left hand, and the guys can use their not awesome hand! Maybe do tournaments like that once a week so you get some left side tone too! I totally get the addictive-ness of Wii!

play some of the other games and you definitely would have to work out both sides. i need to unpack the wii and start doing the wii active again.

I did the 100 push up challenge and it was great. Well not the first couple of weeks but keeping up with it has changed my endurance and muscle strength. I had to tone it down a bit because I was getting a little too muscular and was getting scared hehe. Keep it up!

I was trying so hard to keep up with it! I actually had doubled the amount of pushups I could do in just 2 weeks! But then I got incredibly ill for a good 2-3 weeks and could barely get out of bed, let alone do some pushups. And then I started pretty much the equivalent of a medical residency which keeps me incredibly busy and tired. But no more excuses! Tomorrow I’m starting over and finishing it this time!

Ahh yes the dreaded “Wii arm”! My right arm is always killing after a marathon tennis match on the Wii!

what id you make a leftie Mii and challenge yourself to do better with that arm? Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could beat Mr. HW with both hands?!

I fell off the pushup wagon too after about week 3. I think I’ll use @MrsParfait’s idea of push ups during commercial breaks though. Sounds like a good idea to me :)

hahaha, i fell off the 100 pushup boat already. I need to find the source for my serious lack of motivation to exercise. You’ll get back on track! Just make playing wii as your reward for getting your push ups done!
