Getting My Hair Did

June 15th, 2010 @ 6:23 pm by Mrs. Frog

Since I got myself a little haircut yesterday, I figured it was the perfect time to talk about wedding day hair. Can I just say, a haircut on a Monday morning is seriously such a great way to start a new week. Cue cheesy music.

Oh and I should clarify… haircut = trim. I’m one of many brides that’s growing out the mane for the wedding. Will I do a PWC (post-wedding chop), you ask? Only time will tell, my friends…

For now, I’m thinking about options for wedding day hair. I think I’ve narrowed it down to two options. Let’s explore, shall we?

I have to say that I love the look of loose waves. If I could wear my hair everyday like those lovely ladies above, I totally would. I also love that this hair lends itself to the environment – lake, summertime, vineyards – it feels very natural. My other thought on this style is that I typically wear my hair down and on our  wedding day, I want to look like a glammed up version of myself so wearing it down seems like a very good option. An updo might not be the most ideal choice if I’m wanting to look and feel like myself…hmm.

Chignon. Not only is it fun to say, it’s lovely to look at, too. I love the simple, classic feel and if done somewhat loose, it will still have that natural look I’m going for. I feel like these really work with our “garden chic” theme. Not to mention that it would keep me cool since it would be off of my neck… and with summer heat, that’s definitely noteworthy.

Sooooo… thoughts, my friends? Should I go down or up? What are you planning to do?

I love the last look! The good thing about an updo is that no matter what the weather does it will still look good… you can’t really say that for down hairdo’s. Im doing an updo for sure!

I usually wear my hair down, so I wore a glammed-up version of it for the wedding - I’d recommend :)

By glammed-up, I mean a glam down do. Sorry, confusing :)

I love the look of hair worn down for a wedding. But when we did our e-pics, the photographer was constantly having to rearrange my hair and remind me to push it out of my face. I decided right then I’d wear it up for the wedding. It was just too obnoxious to deal with all day!

I like the first couple of pictures. I’m wearing my hair down for the same reason–I never wear my hair up and I want to feel natural and like myself on my wedding day.

I know this will not help you but I love both looks! For me, I’m going updo since I get distracted by hair in my face and I fear I’ll be too hot in the summer.

I also think it depends on your dress.. if it is strapless go with long hari but if it is v neck or a low back do your hair up to show it off :)

I love the down but I also love the look of the loose updos! I will be wearing my hair down what i call “soap star” hair! My hair always looks like the 1st photo (but darker) so i just wanna add some more volume to it!

I’m doing it up for the ceremony since it’s outside, and down for the reception or I have the option of not taking it down. You could try something like that? hth

I like the one of Jessica Biel if you do the updo but the first one if you leave it down…both are very pretty!

they are both cute…I am definitely going for some kind of loose pulled back look…I would be messing with my hair all day if I had it down, plus the wedding is in July, I dont trust my hair to be down in July!!

I gave some serious thought to wearing my hair down for the big day, but then I remembered “oh wait, it’s going to be late afternoon, hot and humid, OUTSIDE, in Charleston” I would have hair like Richard Simmons by the end of the day. Updo it is. I love the inspiration pics you posted! I added them to my pics folder for next year!

Outside in the summer? DEFINITELY put your hair in an updo of some sort. Wearing it down will get sticky and hot way too fast. As for my own wedding, my hair is above the shoulder and going to stay that way, thanks to the fact that I am about halfway through growing out black hair dye. I’m thinking about a simple 1920’s inspired wave with a fascinator. The less I have to worry about, the better!

Why not do both?! You could have the chignon for the ceremony and then when it gets a little cooler for the outdoors and you want to “let your hair down,” you can!

I’m doing a chignon for mine since I want my hair up and out of my face the day of. And I totally agree if I could rock loose sexy curls everyday, I so would! I just need to know how to get those curls first!

I know i’ll be tearing up the dance floor all night and a hot sweaty mess so i’m opting to have it up for sure at the reception. i’m thinking of having it down for the ceremony tho (that’s more me). It helps that my hair stylist is one of my BrdMd’s sisters, so she’ll be right on hand!! I love Jessica Alba’s hair-super chic!
