My beautiful friends and Mr. P’s handsome men had made it down the aisle. After all of the prepping and our happy first look, it was time for my dearest Daddy to escort me down the aisle. I couldn’t help but wonder— would Mr. P cry? How would this all go?
The strains of Canon in D by Pachelbel filled the area, and I looked at Papa Pencils, took a deep breath, and we stepped out. We had practiced stepping out on the same foot the day before and I tried to keep us in sync as we reached the stairs.

I looked out at our guests and all I felt was utter joy—such incredibly happiness to be so surrounded by love and looking down at this guy.

Despite having to look into the sun, he still looked handsome as ever!
I carefully watched my step down the stairs…

I rounded the corner, and smiled at everyone in sight.

I believe this is when Mr. P’s eyes sprung a leak…

But I couldn’t stop beaming!

And I mean beaming at EVERYONE.

The photo of Mr. P above really represents exactly how I remember him looking—so full of love and overcome with joy and tears.

I love the moment below, with one of Mr. P’s best men, Andrew, looking at him as he looked at me. He looks so happy for Mr. P and so happy for us.

Mr. Pencils hugged my daddy.

Then I hugged my dad. This was the compromise we worked out when I made it clear that I didn’t really want to embrace the tradition of my hand being passed from man to man. It felt so right to hug him that I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

And then we were next to each other. The natural feeling we both had was to kiss but at the last moment I think we both remembered we weren’t supposed to do that yet. So we did a nice awkward nuzzle thing before heading up the altar steps.

Uncle-Reverend John seated the guests, and as I looked around, I realized, the ceremony was about to begin.

I seemed to hear John’s welcome in slow motion.

Here we go, I realized. It was finally going to happen—I was going to marry my favorite person in the world!
