Mrs. Earrings's Picture
Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New Zealand Age and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography Student Engagement Date: February 14, 2010 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Gardens of the World About Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.
About Mrs. Earrings

… and acquired the most awesome purple silk bolero ever. Anyways, I used to be what you might call a “cautious” internet shopper. As in, the thought of it absolutely terrified me. But since we started planning this wedding, that fear has gone out the window.

I was guilty of ogling over wedding blogs for months before we actually got engaged. And one thing that really caught my attention, in regards to the “bridal look”, was the bolero. I could drool over those for hours. I love them all:

The Lacy

The Knitted Sophisticate

The Ruffled

To me, boleros just seem such a great way to add an elegant point of difference to your look, and you might even be able to wear it again after the wedding day (which is exactly what I wanted).

I had my eye on a certain bolero for about 5 months before I went ahead and bought it… my very first purchase from Etsy. It had everything I wanted: silk, just enough ruffles to not swamp me, totally re-wearable and a gorgeous deep purple colour. Plus it assuages that tiny guilty feeling I had for not buying a handmade dress (my dress that I haven’t even shown you yet!).

Here she is:

Gorgeous, right? I think the rosettes were what totally sold me. I bought her off Etsy seller maryandangelika who I highly recommend, her shop is filled with gorgeous boleros like my one!

So now my internet-shopping fear is history and I am finding it is almost too easy to buy things… *sigh*

Anyone else totally addicted to Etsy? What are some of your favourite sellers?

I’m still an Etsy virgin and pretty scared on internet shopping. I should probably get over that…I LOVE your bolero. It’s going to look fabulous!

I am getting my fake flowers from AngelloftCreations- who by the way has been AMAZING!

THANK YOU for posting a link to that seller! That’s exactly what I’ve been looking for! I have ruffled shoes, so I’ve been looking for a ruffled collar bolero.

I LOVE your bolero!

I am so obsessed with Etsy. I bought all my wedding party flowers from ArDesign. (I can’t stop looking at her creations, they’re gorgeous.) I haven’t gotten them yet, but I’m so excited to see them.

I also bought a flower sash from bexcessories. She’s so great to work with, and I can’t wait to get it in a few days!

And my invitations will most likely come from moncherdesigns. The custom sample I got was fantastic.

I really looooove boleros as well but have been scared to shop on etsy for one (even though there are SO many pretty ones!)since I have larger upper arms and have been scared that buying one unseen won’t fit right.
