My Locket

June 17th, 2010 @ 4:51 pm by Mrs. Knitting

Picking out what jewelry I plan to wear on my wedding day has been a relatively painless process so far. For me, the best jewelry has a lot of sentimental value, and that’s why I knew pretty much as soon as I found my dress that I would be wearing my locket. My locket is definitely one of my most treasured pieces of jewelry. Mr. Knitting bought it for me for my 19th birthday and I’ve worn it almost non-stop ever since.

For example,

Eating cheesecake in Grand Central Station in NYC:

A backyard picnic:

My Locket : wedding jewelry toronto N28128501 Being ridiculous with good friends:

My Locket : wedding jewelry toronto N281081 Being a supportive girlfriend going to a baseball game:

My Locket : wedding jewelry toronto 10235 8 At my older sister’s wedding:

I know a lot of people like to find completely new jewelry for the wedding and I think that’s lovely, but for me I love the fact that I’ve worn this locket for so much of our relationship and I can’t wait to wear it down the aisle as well!

Are you sentimental about a piece of jewelry? Tell me about it.

I’m wearing jewelry that my fiance gave me as well. My stud pearl earrings and a necklace he gave me. It’ s important to me to wear what I love.

I have this rhinestone necklace that belonged to my great grandmother. I’ve worn it only a few times before, all for special occasions, and it happens to match some detailing on my dress rather well. I actually probably won’t buy any new jewelry for the wedding, because I already have some earrings that match the necklace quite well too.

Great choice! I also wore jewelry I wear every day in my wedding. I wear the same jewelry ever y day, why should my wedding be different? I wouldn’t have looked like me.

I’m wearing earrings that FI got me for my 23rd birthday and a necklace that he got me for my 24th birthday. And I wear them pretty much everyday, but they mean something to me! And my “something borrowed” is a bracelet that my sister’s husband’s aunt gave to her for their wedding.

That’s so special - I love it! I actually HAD a necklace that Mr. C gave me for my high school graduation, and I would totally be wearing it to the wedding if I hadn’t lost it a couple of years ago. :(

I, too, have a locket from that I adore! It has a note folded up inside, and only I know what it says.

On a side note, I was expecting you to write “jewellery”!

Blech I cannot type tonight. I meant to write that I have a locket from my fiancé that I adore.

Many moons ago, my mom had my grandma’s and great-grandma’s e-ring stones made into a ring that she has always worn. At my wedding shower, she gave me that ring, along with her e-ring (she and dad are divorced) and i wore both of those rings on my right ring finger on my wedding day. So i had mine on my left, and the stones of the 3 women before me on my right. :)

I think it is awesome for you to stay true to yourself and your style on your wedding day by wearing your locket. I, on the other hand, don’t have any heirloom jewelry so I have to buy everything. :)

Great idea. I’m taking my special necklace and wrapping my bouquet with it, but I think, I’m borrowing my future stepmil’s pearl necklace and earrings.
