Happy Chuppahs

June 18th, 2010 @ 3:03 pm by Mrs. Thimble

In light of my last post about stress, feelings and bridal breakdown—especially in regards to making everyone happy planning an interfaith ceremony, I want to lighten it up a bit with an interfaith detail that makes me hecka-happy: Chuppahs. I wouldn’t get this beautiful detail in my ceremony if I didn’t get to incorporate Mr. Thimble’s culture and be married by a Rabbi, right? So while I decompress, I thought I’d share some Chuppah, and general ceremony, decor inspiration:

Homespun quilts and flowing ribbons (and glowing bride):

Ethereal, simple, beach! (this was our alterna-wedding):

More ethereal pure white sheet and sprays of flowers, but wait! Doves, sunset (and a white linen suit):

Earthy, heirloom blanket and more ribbon action:

And some jar votives. Dangling daintily. A wee sneak peek at some Chuppa decor action for the Thimble nuptials.

Is there a focal point for your ceremony decor?

I love chuppahs, too bad Mr. Jelly and I are not Jewish :( There is really no focal point to our ceremony decor…but that’s ok too. Can’t wait to see yours.

LOVE Mason jar votives. And I love chuppahs! When we were designing our arbor with our florist, she kept saying “And here’s an example of what it would look like if we made it into a chuppah, with four legs instead of just two.” I really would love to do it; the depth and billowy fabric is just nicer and more interesting than a flattish arbor, but we have zero claim to Jewish culture and I didn’t want to be a poser. :)

I made a lace Chuppah for our interfaith ceremony. Let me know if you want to borrow it! I’d happily share and help you de-stress about an interfaith ceremony. Also feel free to ask me questions about our interfaith ceremony- we had some pre-wedding ups an downs, but it all went so well. Good luck!!
