Our First Wedding Present!

June 18th, 2010 @ 1:58 pm by Mrs. Hot Dog

Invites haven’t even gone out yet and we already received a great gift in the mail! IMO, it is the greatest first wedding gift EVER! ;)

Hmm… I wonder what it could be…

A glow-in-the-dark frisbee from our REI gift registry?! Yes please!!

A sweet note from my awesome uncle!

And there she is in all her glory (yes it is a SHE!).

You may be asking yourself why we registered for a Frisbee (my mom sure was curious). Well, the answer is… I have no idea. To be honest, it was probably a mistakenly scanned item. Or H. Dizzle snuck it in somehow. ;) If it was a mistake, it was a very serendipitous one, considering how much we love Frisbee! And who wouldn’t love to be able to play IN THE DARK?!

What was your first gift? And did you register for anything a little… off-beat?

That is so cool! I can’t even remember what our first gift was, as we received it at the shower…maybe bed sheets?

Love it!!

We haven’t registered yet and we get married in less than two months. It’s awful, but we also don’t really want anything. We’re also thinking of donating to help the animals in the Gulf because we don’t need anything really. Just a wedding which is fun.

I can’t wait till the first wedding gift arrives! I may or may not be stalking our registries to see if anyone has purchased anything. So far no luck but not surprising since our shower won’t be for at least another two months and out wedding is a little over three months :/ Oh the squeals that will be made when we do get one.

Does it have a strobe function? Because (and this is totally nerdy) a fun game to play, ESPECIALLY when you are totally exhausted but all jazzed up on sugar or whatever, is to throw a strobe-ing object around in a totally dark room. We’ve done it with a headlamp, but obviously a frisbee is a little more aerodynamic.
And, I love that you didn’t even know it was on your registry, and yet someone totally bought it for you! May you receive all your registry items!

I had coworkers who were hit by a combination of wedding burnout and general zaniness while holding the Target gift registry scanner, so their registry was mad-crazy-insane. There probably was at least one Frisbee on there; I know there were bags of peanut M&Ms.

Result: the people shopping for them had a BALL. People talked about it for days: “Have you shopped for so-and-so yet? Oh, you’ve got to see their registry; it’s hilarious!”

It wasn’t our first gift received, but we did get seamonkeys off our Amazon registry. My hubby has ALWAYS wanted them and we knew we had the right mix of people attending our wedding when we realized about half our attendees would totally buy us seamonkeys!

My family has two of them, and we LOVE them! They are great! My only caution is people running into each other if it’s too dark. We had a collision at our last family reunion. :D
