About Mrs. Lobster

Go Go Gray!

June 21st, 2010 @ 5:24 pm by Mrs. Lobster

My favorite color is a non-color… gray. And it’s all over our invitations.

Thank goodness gray has come into favor in the past couple seasons. I’ve always fully embraced gray and now I can be in fashion, too! If you look in my closet you’ll find countless gray skirts, v-neck sweaters, cotton dresses. All in the name of GRAY!!!

Some of you might think gray is a dull, boring color. Maybe you’re right. Gray is definitely a tricky fellow. But I think it’s a nice alternative to black or other dark neutrals while still keeping a formal feel. The wrong shade *can* feel bland and overcast, the right shade could be very rich without the intensity of black.

Gathering up our invitation details into a giant pile of gray… here they are (personal photos unless otherwise noted):

Sorry for the bad lighting!

An experiment in twine details (still deciding between this and another color:

Don’t worry! I’m not all gray. The accent color is a lime-ish green shown here.

Did you embrace a non-color for your wedding?

I love grey. In our alternate minimalist Helvetica wedding Mr. Snow and I joke about, we always dream of gradients of grey decor (with black and white).

I am sold on gray –every since Mrs. Joey’s wedding. I love your envelope liners. I think gray is a nice neutral to change up for black every now & again.

We are using gray, too. Gray, cream and burnt orange. We are throwing some dark reds in there as wells. I like that the combo is fairly unique. Originally I was going to go with a medium brown/latte color, but I am so, so happy with gray! It really is my favorite neutral.

I adore gray, like you, it has been my color for everything in my life, even nail polish! We are using it everywhere as well with ivory as the accent color.

My husband and I love grey! All of our furniture and most of our clothing is grey, it’s kind of ridiculous.
