About Mrs. Pretzel

Shhhh! Don’t Tell Mr P!

June 22nd, 2010 @ 5:24 pm by Mrs. Pretzel

Mr P lurks around the ‘bee so it’s blasted hard to keep a secret from him. Let me know if you see him and tell him to scram ’kay? ‘Cause I really want to talk things that he-should-know-nothing-of. Things like wedding night skivvies.

All this recent discussion of honeymoons has me thinking of what I will slip on when the dress comes off. There are so many ways you could go with it… playful, sexy, sassy, innocent, elegant. Really, any of those would work. I figured that I would go shopping with Bridesmaid H and try on a wide range of under-things before finding the perfect wedding night ensemble.

Yeah, I was wrong.

I was shopping with Momma P, saw it, needed it, bought it. Can you blame me?

I went bridal white and elegant.

Not gonna lie, it was beyond strange to have my mom there when I was picking it out but not as weird as it was when she tried to pay for it. MOM! “I don’t wanna wear skivvies my Mom bought me!” She didn’t quite get it, as her Mom bought her wedding night ensemble. “Oh,” I said. “Thanks for the nice offer Ma, but I think I’m going to pay for this one.”

Have you given much thought to what you’ll wear on your wedding night? Anyone’s mom also try to buy their lingerie?

haha yeah I don’t think I’d let my mom buy me lingerie either! But what you picked out is gorgeous, I can see why you bought it on the spot!

I asked my FI what he wanted and he told me. I should probably get started on finding my lingerie here soon.

I really like that!!! Honestly, minus the robe it looks like some wedding dresses I’ve seen for DW! :) It’s awesome regardless!!! I agree, I don’t like the idea of someone buying me any nighties or anything at all. I would remember everytime I put it on, “Oh, so-and-so bought this….” Eww

That looks really similar to the one I have - speaking of awkwardness, it is the same neglige my mother’s mother bought for HER for her wedding night. Still haven’t decided if its too weird to wear it or not…but its beautiful!

I love the idea of bridal lingerie and bought some for myself, but it didn’t end up making an appearance for a week and a half. We were just too exhausted and tipsy on the night of the wedding for me to make the effort. Then our honeymoon was a week later and we were even too exhausted the first night we got there. He appreciated it when he saw it, but he’s never really cared that much. I think it gets in his way. :)

my mom said the same thing!!!! we had stumbled into victoria’s secret one day a couple of months ago, and my mom asked me if i wanted to pick out anything for my wedding night. she told me that her mom had bought her some lingerie for her wedding, and she wanted to do the same for me. i told her i’d pass and then my 14-year-old sister and i had a good laugh about how awkward the whole thing was.

My mom actually bought me lingerie as my bridal shower gift. She did give it to me early, so that I wouldn’t have to open it at my shower. At first I was shocked, then a little wierded out that my mom bought my first lingerie. But I really like it and she has good taste, and now it does’nt seem to bother me. I would like to buy more though and definately something white and bridal looking.

My mom didn’t. I did go shopping with my Aunt, but I bought all of my stuff. My Aunt’s like a big sister. I did get a VS card from FMIL.

So pretty!!

My Grandma actually bought my lingerie for the wedding night. Yes, yes, it IS very awkward, but she bought it in a roundabout way. She initially bought me something for my trousseau (which I had NO clue about), but the floral pjs she got were a bit too big and SO not me. So I went to the store with my Mom to exchange her gift and I ended up falling in love with this short little white bridal number. After a few awkward minutes of blushing while my Mom mentioned my wedding night, I decided to get it. Thanks Grandma!!

my mom tentatively asked me if I had worked on assembling my “trousseau” the other day and if I need assistance. Bahahahaha, my mom just can’t ditch the proper talk for one minute.

too funny! it’s nice that your mom offered anyway. hey - she was married once too. my friend’s FMIL bought her lingerie - now that was just AWKWARD!!! it’s been in the back of my head….not gonna lie - i’ve been scanning the Vickie’s Secret sale for ideas…and i’m not entirely sure. it will depend on my dress i think. if i get one of those corset back numbers, i’ll probably buy a reception dress to slip into in the last hour or so of the reception so I won’t be trying to figure out how to get out of my dress. anyone have any logistical advice about the btw? as i try on these style dresses, i think to myself - if this woman is spending 10 mins lacing me up, how the heck am i gonna get out of it!??!?!

So beautiful! And thankfully no, my mom hasn’t bought any of my underthings, and it would be weird if she did. The only person I would want buying stuff like that besides myself would be my husband! :)

My mom gifted me very similar bridal lingere at my shower. At first I thought it was kind of weird too but it’s not like she bought me a super sexy outfit, it’S white and bridal and innocent. Sometimes my mom buys me underwear still (I didn’t think it was weird until FI commented on a new pair of underwear and I laughed and told him mom mom got them for me).
