Right before the wedding, I showed you the process of filling our OOT Boxes and confessed that we has so much stuff we had to rent a truck. Well, the day finally came to pack up 20 months of planning and start our trip to State College!
Since we had an awful lot of gable boxes and no real way of moving them other than one-at-a-time, my genius parents thought up this idea:
That, my friends, is plastic wrap holding those boxes together!
To replicate: pull out a long line of plastic wrap out onto a flat surface (like a table), sit 4-5 gable boxes on top leaving 2 foot tails of wrap on either end of the boxes, and then thread the ends of the plastic through the handles and tie - et voila! A handy carrying device!
This saved a lot of time both moving the boxes from the living room to the truck and also from the truck to the hotel!
Into the truck went the OOT boxes and everything else I’d been hoarding for almost 2 years in preparation for our wedding weekend.
1 truck, 2 cars, and 3 hours later, my parents and I arrived in Happy Valley and began the process of unloading into my suite. I tried my best to organize the stuff by its eventual destination, but really, the stuff. was. everywhere.
After we unloaded, my parents checked in and we were off to take care of some last-minute items like getting a sneak peek at our flowers (!) and such. Before we knew it, dinner time was almost here, which meant the arrival of Burger and his family!
Burger and I had planned a special dinner that evening at our favorite State College restaurant, Spats, for our parents and siblings. Brother Burger and Cheeseburger Brother couldn’t make it until Friday, but we were still able to celebrate with the rest of our immediate family:
From Left: SIL Burger, MIL Burger, moi, Burger, Cheeseburger Sister’s BF, Cheeseburger Sister, Mom, Dad, FIL Burger, soon to be BIL Burger
I cannot say enough how fantastic this whole day and night was. Even though it poured that evening and the weather forecast was threatening a repeat performance for Saturday, nothing could get me down! I remember thinking, ’so this is what bridal bliss feels like!’
After dinner, Burger and I “snuck out” for some alone time - just us two. This involved bar hopping at some of our favorite places and lots of imported beer, which seemed an absolutely fantastic idea at the time.
mmmm
Anyone have a guess at what Friday morning was like for Miss Cheeseburger?
Cheeseburger Tip:
if you have the luxury of having some down time in the days leading up to your wedding, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT! Spend it with the people you love - your family, your fiance, your friends, yourself, whomever! Since our rehearsal dinner was fairly large, we wanted to spend some intimate time with our parents and siblings to let them know how appreciative we were and how much we loved them. Plus, the more moments you spend just taking in the fact that “ohmygod-you’re-getting-married!”, the better in the long run. ![]()
