Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
About Mrs. Cardigan

My Bling

June 22nd, 2010 @ 8:44 am by Mrs. Cardigan

Mr. Cardigan and I were not one of those couples that went ring shopping together. We talked about rings a little, but it was mainly me showing him how pretty the shiny rings over at Tiffany are. I’m not gonna lie – I have a bit of a crush on the classic Tiffany setting. Look how pretty it is!

Of course, this ring is WAY out of the realm of what is possible for two broke college students, so I knew it wasn’t gonna happen. Aside from showing him this, I really did nothing in the way of telling Mr. Cardigan what I wanted. I was kind of superstitious when it came to talking about the engagement before we got engaged. I figured the less I brought it up, the faster it would happen! So, there was no ring talk for us.

But hive, let me tell you, Mr. C did a pretty damn good job. Despite not having any idea what I liked when it came to rings, he totally knocked it out of the park, with heirloom diamonds to boot!

You guys have seen a few shots of my ring before, but I know how much we all love some ring glamour shots! I know you’re just here for the photos, so here they are! :)

Swoon! I love my ring!

Did you talk to your SO about your engagement ring? If not, did they do a good job anyways?

So pretty! And I love diamonds set on 4 prongs - they really show off the stones.

What a beautiful ring. I was in the same camp as you. I felt a little superstitious about going to pick out a ring together before he had proposed. I just hinted when I saw rings I didn’t like, hoping he would pick up on it. He did! I have a classic round brilliant cut solitaire and I love it :o)

Wow! I can’t believe it took me this long to figure out your previous bee identity! Yay!! Your lovely ring shots gave it away. Love your ring and also how you photographed them, and congrats on becoming a Bee!

Our rings are just about identical so I LOVE yours (I have a very similar photo of mine in a book too…) I love that DH picked it out with minimal input from me (I just asked for no right angles on the stones - princess etc… and I asked for white gold like my mom) He did great! :0)

Your ring is so pretty :-) The most we ever ‘discussed’ rings was my expressing my disinterest in large diamonds many, many moons before engagement was even on the table. He remembered, though and my ring has a tanzanite as the main stone, with a halo of tiny diamonds around it and halfway down the band, set in white gold. I was stunned that he picked out something so perfect with so little to go on, but perfect it is!

ooo your ring is so lovely! I love the photos. Wonderful shots!

I was really bad hint dropper but my fiance also talked about ring choices with me openly. I know he was really concerned about getting me something I liked. We looked at quite a few rings online but it is SO HARD to look at things online and be sure whether or not you will like them.

He was smart by taking me ring shopping as a trick to get an idea of what I liked. I thought we were doing real ring shopping - me picking out my ring - but really IT WAS A TRICK!!! The ring he ultimately bought had elements of the two rings I “thought” I’d picked out but was a TOTAL surprise!!! It is set in white gold, has three stones like yours but has four smaller stones going down each side.

Very pretty! All I wanted was a simple solitaire, princess cut diamond, and that’s what I got.

i know this sounds mean, but i asked mr winter what kind of ring he would pick out for me and when he picked something i knew i wouldn’t like, he told me that it would be best if we went together. so i am a very happy girl.

Yeah! I pretty much did the same thing as you “Oh well some day when we get engaged…this ring is nice…oh this one’s pretty.” Ok done, I didn’t wanna jinx myself either! And FI did a wonderful job, as did yours :)

We didn’t talk about it at all, and honestly, I couldn’t have picked out something more beautiful and perfect if I had picked it out myself. I’m pretty sure I gasped when he opened the box!
