Progress!

June 23rd, 2010 @ 2:07 pm by Mrs. Socks

Considering this was me the night before I started our Save The Dates:

Progress! : wedding diy philadelphia save the dates Silly S

Sparkling Strawberry Wine through a silly straw with BM Jess? I’m cringing at myself right now.

And felt like this the next morning:

I made some amazing headway on our Save the Dates in one Saturday afternoon! Kinko’s is honestly my BFF because they spent a LOT of time with me to get everything looking right. And it’s coming along fabulously! Here’s what we got at Kinko’s:

  1. Paper cut to size of the envelope
  2. Skyline insert printed and cut
  3. Half of our labels printed and cut (we’re still getting a few addresses in. We should have more tomorrow and everyone’s by next weekend.)

And all of that for just $65 at Kinko’s!

I also ran to Michaels for two bone folders (I only needed one), some craft glue, stencils, and make-your-own stencil plastic.

But Saturday night was FULL of fail. The stencils didn’t work:

Um. They were kinda funky stencils to begin with, but I obviously ran out of room anyway. Trying to figure out what to do with these funky stencils now. Table numbers maybe? They’re a little small.

Here I’m tracing a template for the make-your-own stencil. It ended up being too big and I had an X-Acto-slip while I cut it out… it just didn’t work. And yes, I was drinking strawberry milk.

Mr. Socks was being super helpful during all of this, of course. Taking beautiful pictures of himself:

Taking pictures of our sleepy puppies:

And of course, he was ever-so-helpful when he insulted my hard work:

BUT, the next morning we got a LOT more accomplished.

Here’s a sneak peek:

Oooh, ahhhh!

Did you have to go through a few failures before you got something right with a DIY project?

[...] I left after I talked about my failures. I went to bed that Saturday night a bit stressed because I wasn’t entirely sure if my vision was too ambitious or just plain impossible. [...]

This post was hilarious! Sorry the stencils didn’t work out so well, but it looks like you did an awesome job regardless.
