What’s Up with Your Hair?

Back in March I decided to have my hair and make-up trial. I knew I had a summer full of friends’ weddings and traveling and gearing up for our own wedding that trying to squeeze something in with my hair stylist/makeup artist would be pretty close to impossible.

Argyle Mom and Argyle Bridesmaid KD tagged along with me so I had extra input, and someone to man a camera. I came along with two photos. One of something messy, a la Kristin Bell (see: first photo from this post). And, the other courtesy of Weddingbee reader, FutureMrsBaird.

So, we tried the side bun first. And, because I wasn’t 100% on what I was going to wear in my hair, we substituted with a random hair flower I had.

Then we tried the second style - the messy one.

I knew right off the bat I loved the side bun. Well, that was an easy decision. So, when I got home, all dolled up from my appointment, I realized I forgot the headband that I had custom made for me by the lovely Miss Star. It is an elastic headband with two handmade, red fabric ranunculus (see: bouquet flowers).

In an attempt to better visualize what this fantastic headband would look like with my side bun, I “mocked” up the side bun style at home in a matter of 2 minutes (in other words, I stuck like 4 bobby pins in so it would hold for a few self portraits). The second I put that headband on, I knew all was good. (And, yes, I’m in our bathroom. Our bathroom has good light - what can I say?).

Looks great! You’re lucky that elastic headbands stay on your head. I must have a flat head in the back because mine stay for about a minute and then start sliding up and off.

I love it!! I only considered hair jewelry after my stylist told me I should put SOMETHING in my hair, afterall since I am the bride! About 1 week before my wedding I went to a bridal shop in NYC and bought a set of three bobby pins with small clusters of clear beads that matched my dress perfectly! How random. I had the stylist cluster them together on the right side of my bun (so guests could see it while we were saying our vows) and it was so beautiful.

I am a huge fan of the side bun! I’ve been known to rock the side pony once in a while And I absolutely love how it looks with the flower headband, you’re gonna look stunning!

@jduck84: Trust me, elastic headbands never stay on my head, but because of where the side bun is positioned, it stayed on the entire night (yes, I wore it around the house for a few hours).
