Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!

#546 on the List of Things I Can’t Make Up My Freaking Mind About: My Hair : wedding austin hair Indecisive indecisive

(Source)

From reading my posts, you may have gotten it into your mind that I’m a decisive person. I have deceived you. I might be the most indecisive person ever… Mr. Cardigan gets so frustrated with me because I can’t make up my mind about the most mundane things, and then it turns into a huge ordeal and I feel like my head is going to explode. Where do I want to go for dinner? I don’t know! Don’t ask me! I can’t decide! I literally cannot go up to a fast food window or counter without having already decided what I want to eat, because I get all sorts of stressed out if I’m not prepared. It’s pretty ridiculous.

That being said, I’ve been surprisingly decisive on most things related to the wedding so far. My dress? No big deal – picked it out before I even tried it on (more on that later, I promise!) my venue? visited one and I was sold. Maybe this all has something to do with the fact that I know I’m incredibly indecisive and so I haven’t let myself get too weighed down with options. When it comes to my hair, I’ve totally failed on the whole not-letting-myself-get-stressed-out thing. I know I have forever to decide, but I keep seeing all of these photos of these amazing hairstyles and I WANT THEM ALL! Can I change my hair every 5 minutes during the reception, or do you think that would cause me to miss out on some fun? Sigh.

And, you know, what’s even worse is that the hairstyles I like are pretty much all completely different. It’s not like I have a basic style I like with little variations – no, I like hair down, hair half-up, hair all the way up… with a flower, with no flower, with a headband… AHHH! The possibilities are endless!! So, here’s where you come in, dear readers: HELP ME!!!

Here are some of the inspiration photos I have saved on my computer:

Whew! That’s a lot of inspiration, right?! And to be honest, that’s really only the tip of the iceberg. I have so many photos saved it’s not even funny. And really, the only common theme among them is that they feature curly hair instead of straight. Most of them are up, but I feel like there are a lot of differences in the styles themselves. I can’t bring 15 photos in to a hair trial, can I? I think I might scare the hair stylist off if I try that!

So, hive, how do you think I should narrow these down? Which ones do you like best? Do you have any better suggestions for me? I don’t think I can do this alone!!

I love the hairstyle of the woman wearing the yellow cardigan, and that’s not just because you’re Miss (Yellow) Cardigan :)

Heehee, my MOH and I saved some of these exact same photos. The first one is really pretty, and the Blake Lively one is young and fun!

Honestly, I went from being certain I was going to wear my hair either 1/2 up or all down to going with a low bun updo. I do look best with my hair down, but I figured my wedding day is the one day where I want to look the most elegant AND the weather was calling for almost 90 degrees and high humidity.

The 1st one (which I actually really love) and the 8th one (with the rose) both feel too formal for a fun vibrant wedding like you’ve described. I personally love numbers 3 (lace headband), 7 (Heidi Klum), and 10 (yellow cardigan). Good luck deciding!

@SabrinaR424: I hadn’t looked at in in terms of the style of our wedding! Thanks for that, that actually helped some! I definitely agree with you about those two being a bit formal for what we’re planning!

I loooove the Blake Lively picture (#2) and the girl with the yellow cardigan (#10). So chic but fun & effortless at the same time…I have no idea what I want to do with my hair either, & it’s making me crazy!

I LOVE Blake Lively’s hairstyle and I loved it the second I saw that episode!

I think it depends most on your dress, the “feel” of the wedding, how your hair naturally is, and the weather where you live.

I like them all but the last one is my favorite, I think it is the perfect combination of formal yet fun but I think it would work better for naturally curly hair. If you are blessed enough to have straight hair, the down styles would work (and are goegeous!) really well since they wouldn’t turn into a ball of frizz (like mine :( )

@mannellal: Yes, that’s my concern with all of the down styles. My hair likes to frizz up, and I plan to dance a lot, so I think I’d worry about what my hair looks like!

I think there IS a commonality in all these pictures - TEXTURE. Amazing, delicious TEXTURE. So, at least that’s a starting point, right? ;-)

While it may not seem like it, I feel like there is a common theme…you want a loose, organic, low up-do - something with texture, but off of your neck. I’m a big fan of the headband look, but that’s pretty much my everyday style ;)

I LOVE Blake Lively’s hair! And her dress too, for that matter. And I agree with crayfish, texture is definitely a recurring pattern for you! Start with that :) And you could always get an updo for the ceremony (as long as it’s not too complicated) and let your hair down for the reception :)

You’re asking the wrong person. I’m so indecisive about everything. I ask my older daughter what I should wear each day. “Should Mommy wear this, or this?” =p I like the one with the flower in the back though. They all look great.

I am indecisive as well. I am going with two styles. One for the day of the wedding. Loosely based on the same picture you have of Blake Lively except I am a brunette. Then I am going to do it my self half up with the rest down for a photo shoot in our wedding clothes with our dogs a week after the wedding. I am hoping to get cute pictures with the dogs for my thank you cards.
As for advice check with your official girls because they know your dress, hair type, and personal style. They all look great!

HA! I love that one of “serena” and that one of Jessica Alba was the inspiration for my braid on my day :)

I feel the exact same way and I am totally glad that its not just me! Most things for my wedding have been really really easy to pick…. but suddenly its the little things that are bogging me down! Hair, tablecloths, and other stupid stuff. Should i have flip flops or pashminas to give the guests… overall I am getting caught up in little things… Glad to hear someone else is too!
