Things I Like to Do in Bed

June 24th, 2010 @ 2:09 pm by Mrs. Earrings

Get your minds out of the gutter. I’m talking about a few of my latest sewing projects for the wedding that I thought I might share.

Currently in the works are lace doily runners, and lavender hearts (that is—fabric hearts with stuffing and lavender inside and decorated with a cute button and a loop of ribbon). I find it helps me sleep to work on them for half an hour or so before I turn out the light, plus it means I’m actually getting something done rather than just talking/thinking about it which is a bonus.

Here are some pics (all personal photos which should be clear by the crappyness of their quality. I wanted to steal Mr E’s good camera for the day but he had with him at class and I’m too impatient).

I’m making 30 of these for table decor and such. Eventually all of them will have ribbons, but I’m not so good at that part so I’m delegating it to my mother. :)

Ooh, and I am also planning on posting a tutorial on these in the future, so stay tuned!

That’s one of the doily runners in the background in the above pic in case you were wondering. And below is a whole bunch of them spread out in my minuscule room as I figured out which ones should go where. I’m making 10 at this point:

Yeah and that is my Spanish textbook, heater and fridge encroaching on the photo. Hey, you can’t say I don’t keep it real, right?

Finally, here is a project that is actually finished. But I didn’t finish it, I just came up with the idea, made stencils for the letters, and Mum Earrings ran with it: L-O-V-E bunting/signage using leftover bits of fabric to hang behind the bridal table.

I have one tip when it comes to sewing in bed: Make sure you don’t forget the sewing scissors in between the sheets. It isn’t nice to wake up at 2AM with something sharp in your leg. Just saying.

Are you sewing anything, big or small, for your wedding?

So the runner is crocheted? I LOVE IT!!

As for what I’m doing, I’m making cluthces for the 5BMs and me, a second dress, garters, and I want to look at doing a bolero and lingerie. I’m a little crazy!

Good luck!

Love the crocheted runner! Can you point me to a good tutorial to learn how to make one of my own?

holy moly!! Earrings, you are so talented!! Look at how cute those little lavender hearts are! And how intricate those doilies are! That blows my mind as someone who can barely sew a button! I love them!
