What’s Next?

June 24th, 2010 @ 2:53 pm by Mrs. Seashell

Relationships often change us. They challenge us, and encourage us to grow. We learn more about ourselves; we learn more about how we react in relation to someone else that we have welcomed into our world.

Similarly, wedding planning changes us. It brings out some good, some bad and can expose some unknown strengths and weaknesses. It reinforces self-awareness. Statements like, “I am a girly girl.” “I work well under deadlines.” “I have no artistic talent.” or “I have a hard time delegating” become ever more true.

Sometimes, though, we also manage to surprise ourselves. We expand our horizons. We discover that we are capable of things we didn’t expect. Or we are open to things we didn’t anticipate.

What does this mean for me? It means that I not only entered a big box crafting store, but I now own this:

What's Next? : wedding crafts providence Cricut1 cricut

This weekend I became a real-deal crafter.

In what ways has wedding planning changed you?

I envy you. I want one so bad!

I guess I haven’t really changed so much as I have realized things about myself. For example, I have always been the kind of person who likes things to be organized. I have now realized that I am a crazy, compulsive, must have spreadsheets and to-do lists up the wazoo or else I’ll go crazy kind of person. I even went to far as to photoshop the tablescape for the caterer/venue staff… This may not seem so crazy except that our wedding is 4 months out lol.

I want a cricut so bad… Unfortunately, it’s out of the budget for now. (only because we DID get the Gocco, so I can’t complain TOO much!)

I was always crafty - but I love being able to showcase it. Learning that I can’t do everything I see has been hard. I’m getting better at reining myself in.

It’s pretty easy to use. Check out youtube for all your instructional needs..that how I figured out pretty much everything!

Oh and Sure Cuts A lot is a life saving! I love that program, you can design most anything on you computer and have the Cricut cut it. It is awesome.

Sooo I bought a cricut, after a long debate with myself. Its still sitting at the store waiting for me to claim it. I think I am going to let it go back to it’s mother because picking it up and claiming it will obligate me to create everything under the sun which I do NOT have time to do and coming to that realization allowed me to let go of some tasks and you know what? I feel so much better! Whew, thanks for letting me get that out ladies! Wedding planning has made me love my FH and I am more looking forward to our life together…life AFTER planning!

If only I had time to be a real deal crafter. =p

Wedding planning (not just for my own wedding, but my friends’ as well) definitely changed me. I can definitely delegate and make executive decisions for sure now. hehe

Ohhh I’m so jealous. I want one, but with no wedding planning left, what the heck would I use it for?! Also I totally became craftier over the course of wedding planning. Sometimes Mr. GP would look up at me crafting away madly and be like “who are you?!” :D He’s happy he gets handmade stuff though
