Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
About Mrs. Cardigan

Sweetest. Thing. Ever.

June 25th, 2010 @ 5:05 pm by Mrs. Cardigan

The Scene: Mr. Cardigan and I are sitting on the couch, flipping through the channels. He comes upon TLC, which happens to be showing “Say Yes to the Dress”. He knows it’s one of my favorite shows, so he pauses for a moment to watch.

The girl on the show is trying on various dresses - she puts a certain one on and says “I absolutely love this dress, but my fiance would hate it.”

Mr. Cardigan (yelling at the TV): “What?! Don’t say that! Get the dress! When he sees you in the dress he’ll think you look amazing, and that’s all that matters! If you love the dress, he’ll love it too! He’s going to think that you’re absolutely beautiful no matter what he thinks about the stupid dress.”

Um, what did he just say?!

Seriously, y’all, it almost brought tears to my eyes. I thought it was so sweet that he was getting so passionate about this random girl, and he was absolutely shocked that she didn’t know that her fiance would think she was beautiful no matter what the dress looks like.

As soon as he said that, any anxiety I had been feeling about him liking my dress just flew out the window. I now know, as much as I like to think it does, my dress doesn’t really matter to him. It’s who’s IN the dress. As long as I’m smiling, he’ll be smiling.

And that’s a good feeling.

Has your FI said anything during wedding planning that completely caught you off guard?

How sweet! My FI said he wanted to match my shoes perfectly. It was just so sweet and so random. Like matching my shoes will show that we’re really a pair.

Aww, that’s so cute! Yay Mr. Cardy! Mr. Jelly once compared seeing my dress before the wedding as equivalent to knowing what his birthday present would be for the next 15 years. I thought that was sweet, and vowed not to let him see it. Then I accidentally left a picture of me in my dress on my iPhone and he saw it. Oops.

Absolutely love this! I don’t have an example either, but you just reminded me of a story. I caught my boyfriend watching Bridezilla recently! LOL When he realized I saw, he told me that he enjoys watching it because he knew that I would NEVER act like that, and he felt sorry for the men that end up with women like that..hehe

Mr. C is pretty cute! Kudos to him for actually stopping on the show, my FI would not even click over to TLC on the off chance it was on-air. :)

That’s so funny; my FI said almost the exact same thing the last time we watched SYTTD together! He also gets annoyed at the unsupportive family members… He’s all like, “it’s not your wedding it’s hers! Don’t tell her you hate the dress, even though she loves it!”. He’s cute too, lol!

What a presh!!! I love it! And you better be careful… my husband is now just as addicted to “Say Yes” as I am, even though we got married three months ago. He calls me back into the room when the commercials are over and he actually uses the word “ruching.” Of course he would DIE if he knew I was typing this…

No fair! My hubby is watching Ax Men… before that? Harold and Kumar. He leaves the room when it’s on anything wedding related!!!

That’s about the cutest thing I’ve ever heard. While my FI would probably never say it, I think you’re totally right - he’s not gonna care what the dress looks like, just as long as I’m the one wearing it!!

@Miss Jellyfish: OMG that’s adorable!
@bride2bejc: Uh, yeah, I’ve caught him watching SYTTD when I’m not in the room before!
@Farfromachildbride: Yes, I am worried about this, haha! He always watches that and Four Weddings with me! :)

I was sincerely knocked off my feet when my FI offered to come with me to pick out some fabric for a wedding project. He actually seemed to be offended that I was thinking about not asking him to come! From then on I ask for his input on a lot more things.. (it’s been good and bad!!) After all it’s his wedding too!!

So sweet!

You know, I was that girl who didn’t buy a dress for fear of what my groom would think…something I’ll always regret. Your FI is right, at the end of the day they’ll think you are beautiful no matter what. And if they don’t, they don’t deserve you!
