Thinking About Brandon

June 27th, 2010 @ 3:40 pm by Mrs. Dolphin

Last week, we found out that our cousin Brandon (little B who walked his little sister, KK, down the aisle at our wedding) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Brandon and his Sister, KK, at our wedding. Aren’t they adorable? Serious cuteness overload!

We were completely shocked and heartbroken when we found out.

Finding out was like being hit by a ton of bricks. It is strange how life could change in an instant, with one diagnosis. If was just a few weeks ago that he was healthy, dressed all snazzy in his suit and looking forward to that Nintendo DS game he was promised if he walked his sister down the aisle at our wedding.

Mr D and I are able to get updates on how Brandon is doing via Facebook from his momma. Facebook has become an excellent tool for Brandon’s momma to let our family and friends know how he is doing (without having to make the same phone call over and over again). She even posts pictures of him every few days. It is wonderful to get to see his face and send him happy thoughts and messages via Facebook. :)

Please pray for Brandon and his family. Please keep them in your thoughts, prayers, and send good vibes their way.

We love you Brandon. We think about you all the time and are always so happy to hear when you are doing well through your chemo treatments, having a bit of fun at an arcade (that was sweet enough to clean the machines for him before he got there) or feeling perky. You are an incredibly brave little boy. Sending love, kisses, strength, happiness, and prayers.

I’m so sorry. I hope all of you stay strong and FIGHT! Also, his mom may want to check out CaringBridge, where she can set up a free website and update everyone on his situation. It’s a great tool and can be accessed by people who are not on Facebook.

Prayers, good thoughts, and lots of leukemia-busting vibes coming Brandon’s way.

Does Brandon need anything? Mr. Snow and I know all too well how BORING those chemo sessions can be!

I’m so glad that social media allows us to still have a closeness with family and friends through times like these. Hang in there. Hope to be hearing positive updates on his treatments.

Heartbreaking. Cancer is evil, and it hurts my heart when kids have to deal with it. I will definitely keep Brandon in my prayers.

Be strong, Brandon!

I am a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It is an organization that provides sick kids like Brandon something positive to focus on when they are battling a life-threatening medical condition.

Brandon, his parents or his medical team can refer him to receive a wish. You should encourage his parents to start the process to see if he is eligible http://www.wish.org/refer.

I want to clarify that Make-A-Wish is not a terminal organization. Most kids live on to lead healthy, adult lives.
