As a girly girl at heart, I am excited about our romantic natural island wedding incorporating our American & Filipino traditions.
About Mrs. Pashmina

Bridal Chorus (a.k.a Here Comes the Bride) screams “We Are Getting Married!!” But are there other songs that can make the bride and her guests feel a.) excited b.) happy and c.) in love while still in line with bride and groom’s personalities?

For the last five months I’ve been jotting down songs that I hear on Pandora that I would like to be played during the ceremony and reception. Right now, as I am searching for a wedding DJ, I am trying to figure out what mood I want to evoke while at the ceremony. In the running are:

You have lots of great choices listed! We went with two covers by the Vitamin String Quartet. For the bridal party, we chose Viva La Vida because I absolutely love Coldplay, and for my song, we chose All You Need is Love. Our recessional was Higher and Higher by Jackie Wilson because it’s one of my husband’s favorite songs. I’m glad we went with music that suited our personality.

We have this awsome organ player at our church, so I’m stoked that he will be playing some classics at the ceremony, by at the reception, we know these two songs will be in there somewhere:

Someone Like You - Van Morrison
It Had To Be You - Harry Connick, Jr.

We’re thinking of having a three-piece band that plays all sorts of music.

My cousin is playing I Can’t Help Falling In Love on the acoustic guitar as I walk in. I still don’t know what we should play as my new husband and I walk back down the aisle after being married.

these are great great great selections !!! I was married last month and this was the songs that we chose (after a gruesome week of going back and forth about songs ahhah)

seating of parents - a piano version of The Luckiest
Processional - Oh Heavenly Day - Patti Griffin
Bridal Entrance - Hallelujah (acoustin guitar version by Will Taylor)
Recessional - Brighter than sunshine by Aqualung

we battled between several different line ups that included

Only Time - Enya
Such Greight Heights - Iron & Wine
My love for you is real - Ryan Adams
Lovers Waltz - A.A. Bondy
Beauty - The Shivers

oh and originally my recessional was going to be ……. “The Idea of Growing Old” - the features (I LOVE this song) but with a guest count of almost 300 we were afraid yoou wouldnt be able to understand the song…. but its AWESOME

Oh I love Girl by City and Colour! We’re actually 90% sure that will be our first dance song! You have some great options there, I’m sure whichever one you pick will be perfect.

I’ve mixed a bit of tradition with our quirky style.
The processional is Cannon in D.

My entrance in Trumpet Voluntary (which has significant meaning in our family as ALL of the women have chosen this song for their bridal march)

And our recessional is the Rocky Theme.

We’re also using Superbowl Shuffle as our entrance for the reception.

SUCH! great choices!! Your Eclectic Romance list is basically my favorites list on my iPod, too!! I really wanted to do some covers by Vitamin String Quartet, but my church requires us to use their organist. Which is fine, cuz he’s awesome, and I’ll know he’ll do great, but…the VSQ stuff would be waaaay more us. Oh well!

I love the Vitamin String Quartet. They have a version of “Stolen” by Dashboard Confessional and I am walking out to that. Although it will be played by an acoustic guitarist and violinist from Elan Artists. Thanks for listing all these songs! I am having trouble picking the processional music for the bridal party.

We have a string quartet for our ceremony, who will be playing “Clair de Lune” by Debussy for the Seating of the Parents/Grandparents, “Canon in D” for the Bridal Party Processional, “Something” by The Beatles for me, and “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay for the Recessional. I’m loving your choices though! Might even incorporate a few into our reception playlist, which I’m making right now. ;)
