Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego Age and Occupation: 28, Professor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor Engagement Date: December 20, 2008 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
About Mrs. Hot Wings

Au Revoir Chi-town

June 28th, 2010 @ 1:50 pm by Mrs. Hot Wings

The Hot Wings’ time in Chicago is done. Our relationship started, grew, and blossomed in Chicago. It’s been 6 wonderful years in this city. Chicago became my home. Today, we begin our journey to our new home, Boston. There, we will start our lives together. Chicago is such a rich and vibrant city. It’s full of life. As a Southern Cali born and raised gal, Chicago taught me about seasons and snow. I learned to appreciate the coming of spring an the beauty of public transportation. I strengthened my love for food and the hunt for hole-in-the-wall, mom ‘n’ pop restaurants. I will miss you dear Chicago. You have treated me well.

While Chicago is where we met, it is Boston that will be “our” town. Help me give a proper Weddingbee farewell to Chicago with these lovely photos that capture both my love of Chicago and my love for Weddingbee.

You’ll love Boston! There are so many fun things to do! Take a duck tour, go shopping on Newbury Street, grab a nice Italian dinner in the North End, go on a Whale Watch, spend a long weekend down the Cape, grab some roast beef at Kelly’s in Revere, take a ferry over to one of George’s Island…you and Mr. Hot Wings will have a WICKED happy home in Boston (if you are Red Sox fans, that is!)

I grew up in a suburb of Chicago — the shopping is brilliant, the architecture is some of the best in the world, the summer there is really something magical, and you’re absolutely right, surviving a lake effect winter really makes you appreciate those first balmy days of spring.

I lived in a suburb of Chicago for 8 years (longest I’ve lived anywhere!). I graduated from high school there! After college, I moved to a suburb of Boston. I loved it there too but still ache for Chicago. When I got married, I moved into his house in Rhode Island. We will probably stay here awhile. My parents retired on the Cape so it’s nice to have them close by. After surviving Chicago winters, you will barely notice the snow we get here.

Chicago is so beautiful and vibrant!! I love how so much of the downtown is right along the lake and has the most gorgeous expansive water views! Boston is amazing though - welcome!! Don’t be turned off by the nasty humidity right now - just wait till fall!!

I live in Chicago! My favorite part about this city is that it’s, well, a city, but it’s also very residential. You get the best of both worlds, I think.

But, alas, I have learned I’m a country girl, and we’ll be leaving in over a year, but I truly do love this city!

I <3 Chi-town! I love the big city but the feel of a small city somehow. And how nice everyone is!!!!
If you don’t mind sharing…how would you say the cost of living in Chicago compares to Boston?

We live in Lakeview and adore it here! We’re both undergrad students right now, but I’m really hoping I can get into one of our Clinical Psych programs, because I would give so much not to leave!
I love the energy that Chicago has - it feels so completely different from the surrounding Midwest, even the larger suburbs. And yet it is completely a community, especially once you get down to the neighborhood level.

Welcome to MA!
Can’t say I’ve ever been to Chicago, but Boston is definitely my favorite American city. Maybe it’s the social studies teacher in me, but I love all of the history here! Have you been practicing your Boston accent? ;)

I went to chicago once when I was looking at colleges…I must say, though it was bitterly cold, I could just imagine how much fun it’d be in the summer! I’d love to go and visit during a warmer season! Good luck with the move–I hope you get settled into Boston soon!

Ahhh such great Chicago pics!! I love Wrigley, I love all of the fun street parties in the summertime and I love “the taste” of course! My fondest memory of Chicago is when they used to have the big ice rink on State St. when I was little and my mom would take me and my siblings ice skating. Such a beautiful, wonderful city! :) Good luck in Boston! Now you’ll be closer to the sunrise. You can play the song, “I think I’ll go to Boston” the whole way!!

Awwwwww, we’ll miss you but you have to promise to come back and visit :( I grew up here so to me, Chicago has always been home. I love the fact that when someone asks you where you are in relation to something, you’re never more than “20 minutes away”.

Good luck with your move! I visited Chicago once, in the winter unfortunately, but I fell in love with Millenium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago. I can’t wait to go back when it is warmer.
