Doggie Dilemma

June 28th, 2010 @ 2:54 pm by Mrs. Socks

In case you didn’t already know, we have two Wire Fox Terriers and they are insanely cute. Need some evidence?

Need I say more?

So when we started planning the wedding, we naturally wanted to include our pups in one way or another. When we were looking at vineyards, this wasn’t much of a problem as most of it was outside, and for the indoor areas, they just wouldn’t be allowed.

When we ruled out the vineyards, we suddenly found it impossible to include our pups on that day. :(

So while we’re very sad about not including them, it does take a bit of stress away from the day since we won’t have to worry about someone watching them during the ceremony or hiring someone to take them home afterward. But just because I can’t include our dogs in our wedding doesn’t mean I can’t look at how other brides included their furry friends!

Here are some of my favorites:

I just love the idea of the dog getting his or her own little spotlight during the ceremony! I’m so sad that Wrigley and Zoe won’t be there, but I’m sure their tails will still be a-waggin’ when we get back home!

Will you be including your dogs in the ceremony or reception?

Love those photos! I really, really wish there was some way to include Ranger and Cullen, but I just don’t think it would work – the logistics are just too complicated. :(

I love the last one with the tie!!! lol. Zeus may not be MY dog (he’s my sister’s), but I love him so much, I hope to make him a part of my day, or at least the engagement party. And now he’s definitely going to get a tie. He’ll hate it. haha!

I had the same dilemma. When I finally realized that it was important to just me that my dog Boomer be included, I just scaled things down.

Boomer was part of our engagement pictures, which was much more casual and comfortable for him.

We’ll be taking a couple of pictures with him at my parents house after the wedding ceremony on the way to the reception.

I’ll get my pictures, he’ll be comfortable, and be pampered by our dog-sitter while the whole family and guests have an enjoyable time at the reception. Voila! Everyone is happy! :)

You can always include them in your engagement photos! As a pet photog, I do tons of engagement sessions w/ pups included… they’re my favorite! :)

Our crazy and fun yellow lab, Varsity, will be included in our wedding as the ring-dog!
We’ve actually rented out a Bed & Breakfast for the entire weekend (wedding is at the pavillion the B&B built right next to the actual B&B) and he gets to come and stay with us so he’ll be at every wedding-related event and just chilling with our family during any down time playing board games and such!

Our dogs will be our Flower Dog and Ring Dog. Granted, there will be no flowers, but Pantani is still the Flower Dog and Leo, the Ring Dog. They mean so much to the both of us that we have to have them. However, we are getting married outside and the cabins we’re renting are right across the street.

Your dogs are super adorable, especially in the snow.

We weren’t able to include our doggie because we had a DW and decided it would be boring/stressful for her, especially with all the travel/chaos.

We decided to do a day-after, or for us, an “anniversary” shoot to include our dog. We’re doing it this September :)

These are great. Ours won’t be involved in the ceremony, but he will be making an appearance at the reception. He’ll be a blur in most of the photos he’s in, but every so often he strikes an adorable pose.

These are so adorable! We’ve been thinking of include our yorkie at the wedding. We’ll have the ceremony in a castle which doesn’t allow any pets but the hotel where we’re going to stay in and have the reception is pet-friendly.

I can never see too many pics of your doggies! So much terrier love here :)

Anyways, are you getting ready at your place before the ceremony? I am hoping to get some pics with Leroy before the wedding!! Maybe you could include them that way?

@Amaryllis: Our terriers are VERY high energy and definitely not for a first-time owner. They’re independent, strong-willed, and highly intelligent which makes them bore very easily! If you get a wire fox, I’d recommend a male since females tend to be more high strung.
@Miss Chapstick: Your anniversary shoot is such a cute idea! I’ve been thinking about doing a TTD session with them at a dog park after the wedding!
@OttawaBride2011: We’ll be staying at a hotel the night before the wedding, so that might not work for us, but that’s a great way to include Leroy for you! I could look at pics of him forever too!

I REALLY want to include our two pooches in our ceremony, but one of our dogs has a lot of fear issues and I’m afraid she’ll freak out being somewhere new, surrounded by tons of strangers. :(
