Mrs. Taco, San Francisco Age and Occupation: 29, writer/editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 37, editor Engagement Date: May 13, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: The Green Room at the War Memorial Veterans Building About Me: I like laughing and talking with good friends over good food and good drink, be it wine, cocktail, or brew. I write and edit things for fun and profit, but I rarely "write" these days without a keyboard and high-speed internets. Favorites include Mr. Taco, my Boston terrier, San Francisco, getting out of town, and the Roaring ’20s. I was kind-of planning a wedding since roughly 2006, when I discovered "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" on the WE channel. I ran and didn't look back with a theme I called "urban vintage," and it culminated in the most magical day a taco could ask for.

Invite-Invites

June 28th, 2010 @ 2:34 pm by Mrs. Taco

Look at me, talking about rehearsal-dinner invites before sharing the real-deal invites, which went out last week.

Three pieces and two colors, printed via letterpress. We’ve got a map of the immediate area, printed on lighter-stock paper, the actual 5×7 invite, and a double-sided postcard response. Don’t mind my napkins.

Courtesy of friend and Design bad-ass Lisa at Good on Paper Design. We’d never have these invitations at-cost without her help, so infinite thanks to her. Fun fact: the paper largely comprises recycled cotton from textile factories. I knew green Lisa would do her part for responsible papering.

I neglected to take photos of the finished product, but these babies were stuffed in sage 5×7 envelopes from Paper Source. Matching wraparound address labels, kinda like this one, went on the outside. The outer stamps were dolphins that didn’t exactly match, but there isn’t any weddingy postage for 61 cents. I know, right?!

Naturally, my new favorite activity is stalking our snail mail in search of RSVPs. You should have seen the panic on the one day (so far) we received bupkis.

Who else stalked/is stalking their mail? And does it or does it not make your day to find a stack of responses waiting for you?

Ooh! They’re beautiful! And I love the art deco feel of them too! I can’t wait to start stalkin our mail, although that does require actually finishing/sending the invites!

Very pretty!!

Were they more expensive to mail because of the twine?

I love the corners! very nice!

And waiting on RSVPs is fun unless I get a bunch of nos on the same day. Our reply by day is July 1st, so I should have a bunch or I’ll start calling everyone.

Too late now… but the wedding cake stamps are 61 cents! That’s what I wound up using… after the first post office told me a 44 cent stamp would work. grr.

Probably the highlight of my day is checking the mail. So far there has been something in there every day since we sent out the invites a couple weeks ago. I can’t wait to get our invitation to the rehearsal dinner, my mom already received hers!

@Catherine: The twine was just to wrap them up when they were shipped to us, but we kept it nonetheless. It matched perfectly!
@mak418: D’oh! We were at the wrong post office on the wrong day, then.
@Mrs. Trail Mix: Oh these are definitely for the wedding; rehearsal dinner invites were an adorable, much-less-intricate dealie from Etsy :)

Pretty invites! Our RVSPs went to my in-law’s house, so there was a big stack for us every weekend we went to visit. Loved that part!
