Gifts for the Groom

June 30th, 2010 @ 5:12 pm by Mrs. Starfish

On our way to the New Jersey shower Mr. Starfish kept referring to all of the presents as “yours”, meaning mine. “I don’t have to open presents, they’re all for you.” This was kind of true since it was a bridal shower, but I figured they were both of ours because they are building our home together and we both picked them out. Well, he still didn’t buy it and called them my gifts, not his.

So even though he referred to all the gifts as mine, he bet at least one person at the shower would give him his own gift. Since it’s his family, I figured some of the gifts would be geared towards him, but never saw a gift presented just to the groom.

So it was pretty funny when we walked in and his childhood friend, who is pretty much like family, handed him a blue bag just for him. He opened it up and it was a photo of the two of them on his father’s boat when they were little. It was really cute and it made Mr. Starfish’s day.

I’ve never even thought to get the groom a gift, but I think I might do this in the future. It made Mr. Starfish pretty happy!

Did your groom get any gifts just for him at the bridal shower? Would you give a gift to just the groom?

Oh that’s sweet! And they do get a complex about the gifts being for us since its our shower.

I’d get something geared toward the guy if he was our main friend in the couple or if we knew them both really well =)

I think that was a really great idea of his friend! Her gift was so thoughtful too. I had never thought to do that either but now I am going to keep it in the back of my mind for a groom.

That’s so thoughtful! Mr. Parfait didn’t get anything like that, but I’ll keep that idea in mind when our guy friends get married in the future!

I’ve never been to a bridal shower where the groom got a gift but I think that’s a great idea. Especially since guys dont really even get showers at all.

One time I went to a baby shower and they bought gifts for the baby’s big brother. I hadn’t thought to do so, but I thought it was an adorable touch and made for some really cute pics when he was ripping into his gifts.

Yippee for Clemson alums! :)
And I love this idea, I attended a bridal shower recently (and know the groom better than the bride) so I gave him a separate gift. The bride pulled me aside and said how much they BOTH appreciated it. The guys need some love too, right?!

That was such a sweet gift. I am guilty of never thinking about this before either.
