One of my favorite hairstyles for the wedding is a side chignon. I think they are a fun spin on the traditional updo. I am not so in love with them when they are too blown out and perfect. I like them loose, relaxed, and wavy. This look lends itself well when it is paired with an understated strapless wedding gown. But after running into an article titled, “‘Wow’or ‘W.T.F’?” I am beginning to second guess my appreciation for the hairstyle on such a special day.

Will my guests think I don’t look put together or even lop sided? I didn’t see it before but now I sort of do! Darn articles that sway your first impressions!

So hive, what do you think? Is this style “wow” or “WTF”?

It’s not the side chignon that is the problem. It’s the EXTREME side chignon that is the problem. The photo of the bride in the glamour article is beautiful, but it probably wouldn’t be so classy if the chignon were positioned straight on the side of her head.

I think a low side chignon is great, especially with a pretty flower on the side or in the back. I just wouldn’t take it to the extreme audrina has.

This was my hair inspiration pic! My hair was done very similar, but a little less to the side than Audrina’s.

I think the hairstyle looks fantastic!

Realize that you will ALWAYS find criticism for everything on the internet. If it’s a product, someone won’t like it. If it’s an idea, someone won’t like it. Etc.

Sometimes you just have to go with your gut : )

My inspiration photo was absolutely perfect and exactly what I was looking for, except I told my hairstylist to make it ‘neater’ since the actual brides hair in the photo was sort of loosly put together. So my stylist used the concept of the style, but made my actual hair neater than the picture. I LOVED my hair and it stayed put all day and night. I was photo perfect at 2:00am when DH and I were pulling the bobby pins out

I say ignore that article, and go for what you like and looks good on you! I personally love the side chignon or side pony look!

I love it messy or put together! It’s whatever makes YOU happy on YOUR wedding day! But I absolutely love Audrina’s hair in this pic. I am a fan of offset do’s. I had and side bun on my wedding day.

I Love the trends with side chignons right now. I like Audrina’s as well even though it’s far to the side. Very fun. I say ‘wow’ and totally rock it if you want to!

I LOOVE a side chignon. I think they’re picking on it because it’s Audrina more than because she’s got a chignon on the side of her head. She’s rockin it, and so will you!

Side chignons are lovely, however I have to agree with some of the above comments that the one above is a smidge too much to the side…I think it will be more of “WTF was I thinking” 15 years from now…

I think their really nice, “un-fussy” up-do’s! Completley agree with everyone else though, they have to be lower down on your head, like toward the base of your scalp or else your gonna have some half, Princesss Lea thing going on like Audrina has…

Hm, side chignons usually don’t strike me as weird or lopsided, but this one does. It must be too high or too far to the side? Don’t let this mishap worry you! I’m sure yours will be bridal and beautiful.

Well…Audrina’s does look a little unbalanced, but I think if you like it and YOU think it looks good, it doesn’t really matter what other people think. Do what makes you happy.

That being said, her chignon does kind of look like it should be a little bit lower and a little bit more to the back. But I don’t really know anything about hair.
