Mrs. Parfait, Chicago
Age and Occupation: 26, Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Senior Online Consultant
Engagement Date: February 14, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2010
Venue: Signature Events
About Me: I have a soft spot for all things sweet and romantic. Desserts, love songs, sappy movies? Yes, yes, and ohh yes. My fiance and I enjoy singing to our dogs, creating crazy ice cream sundaes, and generally being lovey dovey cuddle bunnies. We also do socially acceptable things like dancing, throwing Frisbees, playing high stakes board games, and taking unreasonably fun road-trips. We're planning a Korean/Serbian wedding with plenty of playful, personal touches!
I now interrupt our honeymoon recaps to chat about our post-wedding photo shoot! You may recall that we planned to take engagement photos this past winter, but time was not on our sides. Our amazing wedding photographer, Brittany, liked the idea of switching to a post-wedding shoot; so this Friday, we’ll reunite for our long-awaited engagement-turned-post-wedding shoot!
I love themed photo shoots. You know the kind I’m talking about. The amazing Up-inspired engagement session. The couple that loves road trips. The flight-themed shoot for a pilot and his future wife. Once we chose our location (the park by Mr. Parfait’s elementary school) and considered our interests (I’m a school teacher; we both love playing in the park), we decided on our own theme: Recess! Here are some ideas to get us started:

Mrs. Cardigan, Austin

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst
Engagement Date: August 16, 2009
Wedding Date: January 2011
Venue: Vintage Villas
About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
I love pomanders. Love them, love them, love them. When I first discovered them, I kept seeing photos of flower girls carrying them, which is possibly one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. But, my little niece (aka, our flower girl) is SO excited about being a flower girl, and I would hate to take away her moment to throw petals on the ground. To a five year old, that’s a pretty exciting job, and I just can’t deny her of it. So, I figured I would use them for aisle decor! It’s way cheaper than using real flowers, and seriously? They are just freaking cute. I scoured the internet for inspiration photos like this one:

About Me: I am originally from the Midwest, but I love being an East Coast transplant! Mr. Socks and I are foodies and winos to the core---give us a hunk of cheese, some charcuterie and a glass of wine and we could die happy. We have two mischievous Wire Fox Terriers with completely opposite personalities but with a shared love of uprooting anything in our garden. Our backyard garden includes everything from tomatoes and peppers to a fig tree, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries! I love cooking, indie music, and spending time in our wedding city of choice---Philly!

Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA
Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot
Engagement Date: February 21, 2009
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery
About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
I’ve worn glasses for most of my adult life. It actually all started in 5th grade, when I began getting headaches while reading. My optometrist diagnosed me with slight astigmatism, and I got a pair of prescription reading glasses—but I rarely wore glasses until high school. Then, once I got my license, I realized I needed them to see road signs so I wore them while driving, too. And once I got to law school—well, that’s when the glasses became a permanent fixture in my daily life. I rarely leave the house without them:

Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PA
Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical Student
Engagement Date: June 28, 2008
Wedding Date: March 2010
Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel Reception
About Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
Right before the wedding, I showed you the process of filling our OOT Boxes and confessed that we has so much stuff we had to rent a truck. Well, the day finally came to pack up 20 months of planning and start our trip to State College!
Since we had an awful lot of gable boxes and no real way of moving them other than one-at-a-time, my genius parents thought up this idea:

That, my friends, is plastic wrap holding those boxes together!

Mrs. Thimble, NYC/Philadelphia
Age and Occupation: 26, Actress & Costume Designer (+ day job)
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Lawyer & Techie Wiz
Engagement Date: August 22, 2008
Wedding Date: October 2010
Venue: The Pearl S. Buck House
About Me: I’m an easily inspired over-thinker delighted with the process of designing, building, directing and {dare I say} co-starring in the early-autumn affair I’ve been dreaming up. I’m a sucker for trendied-up comfort foods and old family anecdotes; I have an affinity for adjectives, alliteration, eyelet and earl grey; and I live for quality time with family and friends. I never guessed I’d marry my “high school sweetheart", but when it turned out to be my funny, techie, loyal Mr. Thimble I was committed for life. We’re both mid-career transition and ready to move back to small-townish TBD, PA in a pre-wedding flurry of all-good life changes.
Now that I’ve covered how tables and chairs can shape, style, and set the mood in a room, I want to lift our gaze to the ceiling of the basic frame tent.

Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New Zealand
Age and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography Student
Engagement Date: February 14, 2010
Wedding Date: January 2011
Venue: Gardens of the World
About Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.
For a while now I have been mulling over favor ideas. We weren’t originally going to do them, but there are so many fun ideas out there that I just cant resist. I have two criteria for our favors, though: 1) That they be edible, and 2) that they won’t cost very much.
I have always loved the idea of handmade jam or honey favors: they’re purposeful, and you can make them look ridiculously good just with a bit of fabric and twine.

Mrs. Ribbons, Washington D.C./Bloomington, IN
Age and Occupation: 23, Research Associate for an international development firm
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Proposal Coordinator for contractor
Engagement Date: May 2, 2008
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Indiana Memorial Union
About Me: I'm an Indiana transplant living in DC with my fiance and our pretty kitty. I enjoy the color pink, I'm obsessed with the Dior New Look and tulle, and I heart my level 80 paladin. I'm a sucker for bad TV, literary theory, and cakes of all persuasion. I also happen to be marrying the cutest closet nerd around! It's all about Bloomington for us because it's where we met -- on the college paper. If there's a theme for our small summertime wedding, it's Dior meets Dorothy Draper on a lark in Bloomington; think poofy, plus graphic prints, bold colors, and a whole lot of prettiness.
We’re back from the honeymoon! It was the most relaxing and lazy trip I’ve ever taken. We’re having difficulties adjusting to “doing things”.
So, Palm Springs. About a month ago, I started to really worry about the honeymoon: after all, who goes to the desert in the summer? I thought we made a huge mistake. Well, that was needless worrying because Palm Springs is simply amazing in June! The daily high was around 105, which sounds brutal, but without humidity it is solidly pleasant in the shade of a cabana or floating in a pool.
We stayed at the Viceroy and got 25% off our room rate, food, and spa services. I was absolutely in love with their Hollywood regency look.

The grounds were gorgeous, too.

Mrs. Knitting, Toronto
Age and Occupation: 24, Student Recruitment Assistant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Neuroscience PhD Candidate
Engagement Date: October 2009
Wedding Date: December 2010
Venue: University of Toronto Faculty Club
About Me: I'm a pearl wearing, etiquette book reading Toronto girl who loves cooking and baking, museums, charm bracelets, and collecting books on Jackie Kennedy (a lot). I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.
I realize it’s summer and that perhaps we do not want to be thinking about winter all that much. However, I am having a winter wedding so I wanted to discuss some of the ways I plan to incorporate the season into our wedding.
Today I’m starting with explaining our overall style and feeling. When I’m trying to briefly describe the style of our wedding, I usually go with “cozy Christmas vintage”. Here’s what I have in my mind when I say that:

Mrs. Pashmina, NYC/Catalina Island, CA
Age and Occupation: 28, Arts Education
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, IT Administrator
Engagement Date: April 26th, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Catalina Country Club, Catalina Island, California
About Me: I'm a laid-back Cali girl who moved to NYC for school, and ended up staying for love. My fiance is a quick-witted Jersey boy, a self-proclaimed Foodie and the funniest man I've ever met. Together we love exploring the city streets embarking on our next misadventure---and yes, this often involves eating off food carts and trying "the next big thing". I'm the girl in the sundress, snapping photos and collecting trinkets of memorabilia along the way. As a girly girl at heart, I am excited about our romantic natural island wedding incorporating our American & Filipino traditions.
Did I mention that my hometown is a resort town, and it’s where all the stars from Los Angeles come to have a retreat? Whenever I mention that I come from Santa Barbara, CA, the person’s response is always, “Oh, it is beautiful there!”
… And it really is. I love it there, and I miss it!

The Old Mission Rose Garden - personal photo
I was so excited to share my beautiful hometown with my fiance’s family (many of whom never have been to California).
There are so many sites that would make a beautiful ceremony site.

About Me: I'm a nerdy Northwestern girl who always knew she was meant to live in the East, harboring a deep love of ice cream, underwear, Diet Coke with a splash of Coca-Cola, pashminas, scrapbooking, stationery, wall calendars and books written for preteens. I think every day should include good thin crust pizza, chocolate, an obscure historical monument, lots of laughter, a dash of wedding planning and, of course, amazing Mr. Pencils! I'm loving the adventure of planning a Maryland wedding and Rocky Mountain reception, and most of all, I just love love!
We couldn’t hide out with our photographers forever. After a wonderful forty or so minutes outside, it was time to rejoin our guests after the cocktail hour for dinner. Our family and bridal party waited outside for their announcement to the party…

Mr. Cardigan and I were not one of those couples that went ring shopping together. We talked about rings a little, but it was mainly me showing him how pretty the shiny rings over at Tiffany are. I’m not gonna lie – I have a bit of a crush on the classic Tiffany setting. Look how pretty it is!
