The portraits finished with fifteen minutes to go before the wedding ceremony(!!!). Mr. Spaniel grabbed the ketubah, and we were off to sign our lives away!

We are having cupcakes at our wedding, and making them ourselves. So, the logical thing to do for the next few months is to try every single cupcake recipe we can find to discover the kings of cupcakedom that will grace the taste buds of our guests.
Ming is my ultimate resource right now. Heck, we might not even have to scout around for any more recipes, she has 31 on her site already! Just looking at them makes me drool, badly.
Today we tried the peanut butter cupcake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache. Only we didn’t do the chocolate ganache because we are students and therefore lazy. We just used good old Hershey’s Chocolate Sauce instead.
They were AMAZING. The perfect amount of peanut-butteryness. We used less sugar in the frosting because 2 1/2 cups was much too sweet and it turned out great.
Me: I can feel my heart seizing up eating these things.
Mr E: No! That is your heart saying thank you in Morse code!

First of all, I’ll admit I didn’t know what an escort card was until I joined Weddingbee. And honestly, they aren’t really crucial to a seating plan - a chart would work just as well. However, like many other things, I became enamored with all the cute ideas and wanted to make my own. And like many other things, Mr. Sew rolled his eyes at me, but decided he wanted to be in charge of the Cuttlebug anyway. Such is life.
Though not all our guests will keep their escort card longer than the time it takes to find their table, I wanted to make it a dual-purpose kind of card. You never know, there could be one person like myself that likes to keep everything. Right?
Also, being that we have to either ship or fly all our stuff there, we can’t do anything heavy or bulky. We have to stick to paper. And thus, the simple idea of escort card bookmarks was chosen:
I made some boxes in Photoshop and filled them with some pretty screen tones from this website. Then I made a little character using this website. Easy peasy.

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Don’t get me wrong: I loved our wedding flowers. But every once in a while, I happen upon an arrangement on Saipua’s blog that takes my breath away, and I get just a little bit jealous of the New York brides and grooms that have access to all this beauty:

I feel like I’ve come to the end of a TV series that I really liked at some point, but have gotten sick of and just want to find out the ending so that I can move on to a new show. If you feel the same way about the Lamb wedding, don’t worry - there are just three more installments. I want to tell you about the day chronologically as we prepared, anticipated and then celebrated. Let’s start the story in the morning.
I looked at the clock, looked through my Blackberry, looked at the clock, and then back to the phone again. Willing myself to lay in bed until at least 7:00 am, I watched the digital numbers change from 6:59, then smiled as I swung my legs over the side of the bed. I started the coffee maker and opened my laptop to log into Weddingbee. I read every comment I had received on my last Miss post. I also called Kinko’s and arranged with a friend to pick up our seating assignment chart. After checking off the last wedding “to-do” task, I turned my attention to the serious business of breakfast. A bagel baby soon emerged from my stomach when I downed two carbalicious bagels at Yorgo’s in the Ghent neighborhood (sesame with veggie cream cheese and chocolate chip with butter in case you want my recommendations).
The Lambaids and I rolled into my parents’ suite at the Marriott as our last minute hair/makeup savior, Liv Lethal, finished setting out her beautification tools.

Storybooks are my favorite, from the fairy tales Grimm to Babar the Elephant to yes, even storybooks’ physical manifestation via Storybook Land at Disneyland.
I owe a great part of my admiration for storybooks to my mom, a children’s librarian.
To pay tribute to her, my wonderful bridesmaid Alexa will recite a reading based on the book, The Runaway Bunny.
To tie in the theme, I created program backs using the pages of my favorite children’s book (about a wedding, of course!) “A Frog Went A-Courting” adapted and illustrated by Nina Barbaresi:

I used different pages so about every row, if they put their programs together, can get the gist of the story:

Every time I tell someone that my sister and I are getting married in the same year, the response is always, “Your Poor Parents!!”
Yeah. I know. It seems cruelly expensive. Here’s how it happened. Sister Socks met BIL Socks approximately 1 year before I met Mr. Socks. Their relationship was slow and steady, but my relationship with Mr. Socks was catapulted forward when I moved in with him after only 6 months of dating. After almost a year and a half of living together, we were ready to take the plunge. Sister Socks and BIL Socks were ready just about at the same time.
Sister Socks and I are VERY lucky that Dad Socks has been in the jewelry business all of our lives. Not only do we get very pretty items at Christmas, but we have the fortune of getting a discount through all of Dad Socks’ connections. One of the biggest connections we have is at the Columbus Jewelry Show.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading real Weddingbee brides’ experiences with their vendors via the Weddingbee Vendors section! A while back, we launched Featured Reviews from the Hive, a new feature that allows you to share your favorite vendors right here on the front page! We’ve loved all of the great vendor reviews coming at us, so today we’re launching a weekly giveaway from Zazzle for those of you who create and submit vendor reviews to be featured right here on the blog.
Starting next week, we’ll regularly feature your favorite vendor reviews that you write and submit to us. Every Friday we’ll randomly select a featured reviewer that week to win a custom Avery binder on Zazzle.com!

After the wedding there may be a lot of little odds and ends that you’d like to retain as keepsakes (Wedding dress receipts? Bridesmaid dress color swatches? Sweet RSVP response cards?), and these binders make the perfect place to store it all. Keep the memories alive with a custom Avery binder on Zazzle.com, the world’s leading platform for quality custom products.
Of course, we can’t forget the fabulous hive members that have already been featured reviewers: JupiterLee, amariem25, vistagirl, Soon2BeeMrsLewis, and jmc! We randomly drew a number and Soon2BeeMrsLewis is the first winner of a custom Avery/Zazzle binder.
If you’re a recent bride and you’d like to participate for a chance to win every week, simply review your favorite vendors on Weddingbee and follow the easy instructions to submit your review here. We look forward to seeing your wedding pictures featured on the blog!
It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks for the Starfishes! This upcoming weekend we are heading to the Jersey Shore for Shower #1. FMIL Starfish is hosting a bridal shower for us at a beautiful waterfront restaurant. Then Shower #2 is the following week at a cute New England Inn, hosted by the Starfish Bridesmaids and Starfish Mom.
So what does a girl wear to a Jersey Shore shower and a Boston tea party? I’ve looked for weeks for white dresses, I have some crazy idea that I need to wear white to every wedding event. I thought this for our engagement party too, and ended up in silver. Well, after many shopping excursions, I only found one white dress, which I can’t wear for both showers.
So here’s what I’ve come up with. I love them both, but feel like the “rope dress” isn’t bridal enough.
We were engaged… we had our wedding colors all picked out… now what? Well, for me, the most important thing to do next was choose a venue. I really felt like I wasn’t going to be able to do anything else until that was decided on. The venue sets the mood for the entire day—will it be formal or casual? Indoors or outdoors? Gorgeous or hideous? (Just kidding on that last one.)
If we’re being completely honest here, I had a venue in mind for about a month before we even got engaged. This venue was the epitome of the perfect wedding to me… it was everything I had ever dreamed of. Absolute perfection. It is the venue I pictured in my head every time I thought about my wedding, and the only place I could possibly visualize for Mr. C and myself to get married at.

Since we got engaged, every time I talk to my mom on the phone she asks, “Did you get an officiant yet?” I think she thinks if we don’t then it’s not official (is that true??) and we won’t be married. Well, 10 months into planning we FINALLY have the person who will marry us. No worries, Mom!
I didn’t expect that looking for an officiant would be much work. Neither Mr. Lobster nor I are particularly religious, we don’t belong to a church, but we wanted someone who would unite us in a meaningful way. We met with two officiants before we were set.
If you recall (which you probably don’t since it was eons ago) in my first shoe post, you know that I was in the throes of some serious buyers remorse. I loved the shoes, but they just weren’t right for me and our wedding.
Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for a great pair of shoes that would complement our venue, our style, and most importantly, be comfortable! I scoured eBay, Zappos.com, Bluefly and the like. I kept coming back to one particular style of shoe…
Then one day I was perusing the archives of Mrs. Cherry Pie (LOVES HER!) and saw this photo…

Game over.
I had made it down the aisle, hugged my father and nuzzled my husband-to-be. Reverend-Uncle John began the ceremony by welcoming everyone and thanking them for their presence in Mr. P’s and my lives.
We also paused for a moment of love and laughter as John spoke words of remembrance about Mr. P’s father, who passed away when he was 14. He mentioned that his father would have loved me and also would have loved celebrating with the food and drink at the wedding. We were later told that during this short remembrance, a mockingbird landed right behind John at the altar. As soon as the moment of remembrance was over, the bird flew away. Coincidence most likely, but coupled with the fact that as I stood at the steps about the walk down the aisle, a pair of geese (who mate for life) flew overhead, it seemed that nature was throwing out its love and support of our marriage.
We started the ceremony off with the readings. We gave Kara and Claire free rein to compose whatever they chose, with or without the help of other authors. What they both gave us was better than I ever could have imagined.

Kara, Mr. P’s cousin, spoke first.
