Mrs. Knitting, TorontoAge and Occupation: 24, Student Recruitment Assistant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Neuroscience PhD CandidateEngagement Date: October 2009Wedding Date: December 2010Venue: University of Toronto Faculty Club
About Me: I'm a pearl wearing, etiquette book reading Toronto girl who loves cooking and baking, museums, charm bracelets, and collecting books on Jackie Kennedy (a lot). I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.
Like many brides, I am planning to include a few DIY projects in our wedding. Here’s the thing though: I am not good at DIY projects. I’m not the slightest bit crafty. I can read anyone under the table, but I can’t sew a cushion cover or make a pretty scrapbook page to save my life. Creating an envelope liner seems impossibly difficult to me, although I’ve been informed it’s not. When other brides DIY, you would never know the project wasn’t done by a professional. With me, everyone will know.
Here’s an example of DIY work that just completely blows me away (and makes me feel inadequate!):
The Phoenix bee meet up is this weekend! Come out and join everyone for an afternoon of food, drinks, and conversation. Plus, there will be a special guest appearance by a local celebrity (or should we call her a celebri-Bee??).
Please PM azwinelover with your email address to be kept up to date on the details. Hope to see you there!
Mrs. Dachshund, Fresno, CAAge and Occupation: 24, Legal Office AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, Computer TechnicianEngagement Date: April 18, 2009Wedding Date: May 2010Venue: Victorian Gardens of Two SistersAbout Me: I’m a 24-year-old Californian bride-to-be who found love in the most unlikely of places - an online video game! I’m a farmer’s daughter living in rural Central California, but will always have a special place in my heart for the city. My future husband is a 27-year-old extraordinarily tall, exceptionally cute, and undoubtedly Canadian boy who was able to sweep me off my feet and take me for his bride. I love color, folksy songs that make me smile, interior design, kettle corn, my one-year-old puppy, Juno, and my fiance, of course! We’re planning a DIY garden wedding with a laundry-list of projects, all while dealing with the bureaucracy that is American Immigration!
I realize that I haven’t blogged about our floral plans. Way back when I still had months and months until the wedding, I had mentioned making fabric flowers. As those months dwindled and turned to weeks, that simply wasn’t going to happen. I had neither the time nor the energy to make fabric flowers. We decided that the best course of action would be to head down to Los Angeles’ Flower District to purchase fresh flowers and arrange them ourselves the Thursday before the wedding.
Step Mom Doxie and I woke up bright and early on the Saturday after my bridal shower. The wedding was in two weeks, and we knew we had to finalize our floral plans so we set out to drive down early, choose and place orders for our flowers, make a quick IKEA run and then head home. With a vague theme of easy, casual, gardeny, throw-them-in-a-vase-and-call-it-a-day, a list of flowers that I loved, and an idea of our budget, we figured we’d have no trouble at all.
This was my first trip to the Flower District, and I have to admit, it was a little bit overwhelming. Though, the fact that it was the day before mother’s day definitely added to the chaos.
Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New ZealandAge and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography StudentEngagement Date: February 14, 2010Wedding Date: January 2011Venue: Gardens of the WorldAbout Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.
There comes a time when your inspiration levels reach saturation point. Too many “ooh, look at that! we could do that too…” moments can result in me being a very overwhelmed girl. I know I can’t include everything I fall in love with, but it is so hard not to want to when bombarded with gorgeous images from multiple sources of wedding media (I blame myself… I just can’t keep myself from the pretty pictures. They are bridal crack).
So when I stumbled across these inspiration questions in an old Snippet & Ink post I felt like I had finally come across something that can keep me focused and result in a wedding that is more cohesive than all over the place. Which is a very good thing.
Here are the questions, and my answers that I wrote in bed one night so I could actually fall asleep without a million ideas racing around in my little brain (it really does help to get it down on paper):
Mrs. Socks, Southern NJ/Philadelphia, PAAge and Occupation: 23, Web Developer/Marketing SpecialistFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Systems EngineerEngagement Date: September 7, 2009
Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: Ladder 15 RestaurantAbout Me: I am originally from the Midwest, but I love being an East Coast transplant! Mr. Socks and I are foodies and winos to the core---give us a hunk of cheese, some charcuterie and a glass of wine and we could die happy. We have two mischievous Wire Fox Terriers with completely opposite personalities but with a shared love of uprooting anything in our garden. Our backyard garden includes everything from tomatoes and peppers to a fig tree, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries! I love cooking, indie music, and spending time in our wedding city of choice---Philly!
I haven’t decided whether or not I’ll post pics of my dress on me yet since Mr. Socks is a loyal reader of my blog (Thanks Honey!) but this is the dress:
She looks a little bored, doesn’t she? It’s meant to be a fun dress and she’s like…trying to make it all serious and elegant, and she’s just NOT rocking it.
Mrs. Lace, Pasadena, CAAge and Occupation: 29, Elementary school teacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, EngineerEngagement Date: September 6, 2009Wedding Date: June 2010Venue: Orange County Performing Arts CenterAbout Me: Born and raised in Southern California, my fiance and I are marrying in Orange County. We're planning a vintage wedding with a modern twist. I am an elementary school teacher by day and a wedding planner by night. I love reading, blogging, scrapbooking, trying out new DIY projects, buying awesome finds at incredible deals and spending time with friends and family. Trying new restaurants, traveling and shopping also top my hobby list. I'm anxious to share my wedding ideas and planning with the hive!
Sorry, I wish there was a cool video to play along with the song, but I couldn’t find one. Anyway, my brother used to always play this song as he was getting ready for basketball games and I always associated it with preparing for something big and exciting. So, as I got ready to write this post, this is the first song that popped into my head and thus, the title was born. Can you imagine me playing this song on the morning of the wedding, jumping on the bed as everyone else in the room is getting ready?

Mrs. Sunrise, MinneapolisAge and Occupation: 27, Client Relations LiaisonFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Senior Technical Support AnalystEngagement Date: December 26, 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: The Oaks banquet room at Eagan Community CenterAbout Me: I am a crafty and optimistic, laid back girly-girl who fell in love with a video game-playin', hip hop-lovin', Lego-buildin', computer-techie nerd. I get easily distracted by shiny objects (oohhh pretty..) and I have more shoes than I can count (but I still need more). I love to shake my booty to Lady Gaga’s music but she frightens the hell outta me. Mr. Sunrise and I could not be any more different, but you know what they say… opposites attract! We met over 9 years ago while working for a local grocery store. It was love at first “Clean-up in Aisle 5!” We are both Chicago-born and raised, but recently relocated to Minnesota for his career. I will always remain a Windy City gal through and through, but I cannot deny my love for the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Are your lips feeling a little dry? Chapped? Or even worse… peeling? (Ouch!) No one likes to have rough, chapped lips. And no one likes to kiss them, either!
Time to slather some moisturizer on that pout! Read more…

Mrs. Cardigan, AustinAge and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems AnalystEngagement Date: August 16, 2009Wedding Date: January 2011Venue: Vintage VillasAbout Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
The Scene: Mr. Cardigan and I are sitting on the couch, flipping through the channels. He comes upon TLC, which happens to be showing “Say Yes to the Dress”. He knows it’s one of my favorite shows, so he pauses for a moment to watch.
The girl on the show is trying on various dresses - she puts a certain one on and says “I absolutely love this dress, but my fiance would hate it.”
Mr. Cardigan (yelling at the TV): “What?! Don’t say that! Get the dress! When he sees you in the dress he’ll think you look amazing, and that’s all that matters! If you love the dress, he’ll love it too! He’s going to think that you’re absolutely beautiful no matter what he thinks about the stupid dress.”
Mrs. Glitter, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 27, Research Consultant/WriterFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, AccountingEngagement Date: May 6, 2007Wedding Date: June, 2009Venue: Millenium Biltmore HotelAbout Me: I was born and raised in West Los Angeles, California. I spent eight years in the Northeast working and completing my education. Having split time between two sides of the country has given me a true appreciation for both coasts. It has also provided an overabundance of cross country drives, flights and long distance relationship fun/misery! I love my family, my doggy Emma, fabulous wine, Anthropologie, politics, reading, being outdoors, exploring new cities, and good movies! My fiance and I are complete opposites, but somehow we have managed to fall completely and hopelessly in love.
Kristeen and Josh had a romantic, intimate wedding to remember, marrying in Los Angeles at the gorgeous, hip Marvimon. Both the bride and groom wanted the event to reflect who they were as a couple, while being surrounded by their closest friends and family. Every detail, from their fun Simpsons cake topper to home-baked cookies, were executed perfectly. Kristeen loved planning her wedding so much that she is now a fabulous event planner!

… from the weather. As much as I love Toronto I have to admit we don’t always have the best weather. I have no idea how a Toronto summer bride could stand the stress of having an outdoor wedding here as we have gotten so much rain the past two summers.
However, as a winter bride in Canada you’d think I’d be all set to have a gorgeous super snowy wedding.
