Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: MacLean Park About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!

Love. Who knew you could fall in love with painted feathers and plastic wire? I totally did! As soon as I saw this picture I knew that for our wedding, flowers flew out the window. Not only do I get the chance to make this gorgeous little piece of handheld art, it’s really going to last forever! Well, a forever as long as two dogs and future mini-people with jam hands running around can be. I fear the jam hands.

Here’s my supply of glittery bright butterflies. Don’t they look snazzy? I’ve started dividing them into the seven portions (with mine much larger, of course) and arranging them in artistic little groups. I got the bright idea to bead the wires on the ones for my bouquet. Do me a favor if you choose to do your own bug bouquet, and don’t. It’s not so hot. Maybe it would have been better if I had kept them the same color, but I matched the wire to the butterfly and it just looks a little pre-k. I’ll be sure to post the finished product soon!

LOVE! Also I use the term “jam hands” ALL the time. I mean kids ALWAYS have sticky hands… even when there is no jam in the house… its weird :)

This is an awesome idea. I’m going to incorporate butterflies into my wedding reception but I never thought of making a bouquet out of them. So cute! I can’t wait to see it finished! :)

I was going to do the same thing for my flower girls since we’re having a butterfly theme! I can’t wait to see them done.

@june42011, I got them from GandG webstore.com . They’re super cheap and shipping was great. I broke down the cost and included all my supplies and it came out to $13 per bouquet with an average of 24 butterflies per bouquet. It’s super easy and affordable!
