Mrs. Thimble, NYC/Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 26, Actress & Costume Designer (+ day job) Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Lawyer & Techie Wiz Engagement Date: August 22, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: The Pearl S. Buck House About Me: I’m an easily inspired over-thinker delighted with the process of designing, building, directing and {dare I say} co-starring in the early-autumn affair I’ve been dreaming up. I’m a sucker for trendied-up comfort foods and old family anecdotes; I have an affinity for adjectives, alliteration, eyelet and earl grey; and I live for quality time with family and friends. I never guessed I’d marry my “high school sweetheart", but when it turned out to be my funny, techie, loyal Mr. Thimble I was committed for life. We’re both mid-career transition and ready to move back to small-townish TBD, PA in a pre-wedding flurry of all-good life changes.
About Mrs. Thimble

We just received some drafts for our custom invitations in my inbox from Janie of We Heart Paper, and I nearly fell out of my chair with excitement and shock. I sent her all of my inspiration pieces from the web, like this one, this set, a mish mash of lovely fonts, a fun save the date, and one more; and as you can see I’m head over heels for this fun use of fonts and typesetting trend. Janie told me I should reel her in if she’s gone overboard, but the more intense the design gets, the more in love I fall.

Please help me choose! I present our top 3 choices from simplest to boldest:

One: Scrolls and Vines

Help Us Choose Our Invitations (Please!) : wedding invitations philadelphia stationery Invite Invite-

Two: Pretty Banner

Help Us Choose Our Invitations (Please!) : wedding invitations philadelphia stationery Invite 01 Invite-01

Three: Typeset Hearts

Help Us Choose Our Invitations (Please!) : wedding invitations philadelphia stationery Invite 02 Invite-02

This is the first draft of each of them—so if you’ve Where’s Waldo-ed the typo, no worries we’ll fix it. :) (And, it got complicated to blur details with so much on the page so I’m putting it all out there). But the real issue at hand is, which one do we choose? Mr. Thimble loves them all, too!

Which invitation should we choose?

I think this is a case of less is more. I really like the typeset hearts but in my (professional) opinion it might benefit from a few less details.

I’d pick two or three fonts max (a bold serifed font, a script and perhaps a condensed sans-serif). I think I’d pick one flourish rather than having hearts and the scrolls at the bottom maybe just dots for all.

Also the info becomes confusing when you change fonts in the middle. I’d make your parents name all one font and size. Then emphasize your and your FI names in the same font.

Just some thoughts but I think the invite is totally fun. I wanted to do something similar but fell in love with a pear and floral print that I HAD to include :)

LOVE the second one a LOT!!! The first is too plain and the third is too busy. I think the second one is just right!! I found it difficult to actually see what the third invitation said actually. The second just has the right amount of pizazz!

I agree with previous posters. To me number 1 is defeinitely too busy for me, even though it’s simple. I didn’t feel like there was anything pulling it all together. I like two the best, but I like three also.

I like the idea of the 3rd one, but it seems so crammed in there, it gets a bit hard to concentrate on one thing. But they’re all so pretty.

I like how the white space is shapped in the first one. I love me some white space!

I voted for 2 but promise me if you use number 3 you’ll either delete “PM” or “in the afternoon.” The redundant department of redundancy gets after people for saying things like that.

I love number 3! And then number 2! Number 1 is my least favorite, but it is still so pretty! I can see why you are having a hard time choosing.

Beautiful! I like (and voted for) 1, with 3 as a close second. (But will you include the time in 1?)

I like #2…it’s different than the usual invite. I feel like a lot of people are doing #3 these days, sort of that concert poster look. And #1–I have to agree with some PPs here–is a little too busy with scrolls, vines, and wreaths.

You said it’s the first draft, so I only know it’ll only get better from here!
