Check out those beauties! Didn’t they turn out fabulous? I love the backer paper, it’s a deep red Strathmore drawing paper with such a great texture. I think the best part was that they were all lovingly crafted by hand. Though they have imperfections, it’s hardly noticeable (in my recent friend poll, at least!) It was worth all the hand screening, X-Acto cutting, and machine sewing. I love the zigzag stich, here, take a look!

They have a nice heavy feel to them too. I’m over the moon about these, they’re so much better than I even hoped for. And for a grand total of $50 for 125 (that’s 40 cents a piece!) before postage, I’m one happy lady. Plus it’s always great to get a head start on the invitation design. And save the dates really set the stage for our wedding by giving guests a glimpse of the goodness to come!

LOVE!! I wish I had my YUDU to play with before my STDs were ready! Was using the two colors a pain? I haven’t tried it yet and need to get the registration panels before I do, did you use them?

Thanks so much guys! I was totally stressed out while I was printing them because the edges and the fancy font weren’t coming out as clear as the thicker, solid letters. Turns out the Yudu really isn’t great at fine lines, like, at all.

@bluebutterfly: I haven’t used the registration panels before, what I’ve done in the past is just used a fine tipped marker to line up where I needed each screen to burn. The problem though is that if you use a different pressure on the screen it can print differently. Two colors is pretty difficult, but not impossible. We should start a Yudu board for tips and tricks, in fact, I’ll go do that now…

These are beautiful!!! What sewing machine did you use on the cardstock? I want to add stitching to my scrapbooks but I dont know what the best sewing machine is to do that and go though heavy cardstock.

I actually just used my Brother sewing machine my mom bought me 10 years ago while I was in high school. An all purpose needle and a slow to medium speed was the key, it ran through 3 layers of cardstock with no problems whatsoever.

Wow, so great. I’m also sewing (with a straight-stitch) my wedding invites. It’s such a great touch!

Hey, those turned out great! I can’t wait to see what your invitation suite looks like.

I tested printing out the invites yesterday on smaller paper, and it worked. So for my sanity (and to get my mom off my back), I’m just going to print all my stuff so I can get them sent. I may use one of my screens over it to add some texture to it, but at least everything will be legible.
