Mrs. Thimble's Picture
Mrs. Thimble, NYC/Philadelphia Age and Occupation: 26, Actress & Costume Designer (+ day job) Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Lawyer & Techie Wiz Engagement Date: August 22, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: The Pearl S. Buck House About Me: I’m an easily inspired over-thinker delighted with the process of designing, building, directing and {dare I say} co-starring in the early-autumn affair I’ve been dreaming up. I’m a sucker for trendied-up comfort foods and old family anecdotes; I have an affinity for adjectives, alliteration, eyelet and earl grey; and I live for quality time with family and friends. I never guessed I’d marry my “high school sweetheart", but when it turned out to be my funny, techie, loyal Mr. Thimble I was committed for life. We’re both mid-career transition and ready to move back to small-townish TBD, PA in a pre-wedding flurry of all-good life changes.

The Final Countdown!

July 2nd, 2010 @ 10:20 am by Mrs. Thimble

Okay, not the final countdown. But by the time tomorrow rolls around, we’ll be double digits days away from the wedding. Dear me, time flies- even in a long engagement. Maybe especially in a long engagement because over two years out you can’t imagine reaching…

The Final Countdown! : wedding philadelphia 100days 100days

10.10.10 brides, need some motivation? Lets go!!

Yeah, I went there. (And I love Arrested Development).

Where do the Thimbles stand?

  • We’re in the throes of the invitation design process (okay not “throes.” I looveeee this stuff! But it’s time sensitive. We’ll be in the “throes” of assembly when that time rolls around).
  • Our E-pic session rain date is next weekend and I’ll need a quick turnaround for guest book and Moo Card info-inserts for the invitations.
  • I have a bunch of DIY projects on hold until.. well… I have time to do them. Including table runners, trying my left hand at calligraphy, flower sashes, a hairband and veil, and an escort cards/family tree set up.
  • I still need to buy cardigans for the bridesmaids, my mother still needs to buy her dress, and my MOH still needs her plane ticket. (Okay, I’m just assuming that last one is true for comic effect).
  • The ceremony needs to be ironed out
  • I have to email my florist about some stuff.

The GREAT news is that we are not looking at a move to PA before the wedding!!! YAAAY and the Thimbles rejoiced. Mr. T will be lawyering here in Manhattan.

It may be in light of this recently breaking No Move news that I’m fairly stress-free about this 100 days out business.

But fill me in, hive! October brides, fellow 10×3’s, where do you stand? What am I forgetting about? Are we stressed out and exhausted or pumped up and excited?

How does time go by so fast?! Eek! We started out with a whole, glorious (sometimes not) year and some change ahead of us and now, now we’re in the 70’s…Crazytown! Sounds like you might be a bit ahead of us in the planning though! :) Must. Finish. Invites. :)

Feel like I’m doing ok as far as planning goes, super excited and a little stressed at times, but seriously - what bride isn’t ??

Since we started our countdown in the high 500’s, I thought today would never come. I cannot wait to marry my guy! :)

I’m so excited to be at the 100 day mark today! I’ve also had a long engagement (850+ days). No stress at all here…the ceremony is done, the reception is essentially done. Here’s my to-do list:
-print RSVP cards and put together the invitation package
-place cards & menus (already designed)
-print ceremony program (already designed)
-seating chart

That’s basically it. Then it’s all dress/tux fittings and minor details. I’m so stress free and I don’t know why! I feel like this should be more intense lol!

OMG Yay! Me and the FI just had a big recap over skype yesterday, mostly about money (eek) and how all those little deposits we put down on our vendors are going to be DUE soon-ish! Erm…what do I have to do still…

-get veil and headband thingy
-mail invites-duh (assemble them at some point to might be nice)
-pay for his ring
-oot bags! gah!
-finish shopping for bm gifts

Uh, wait I know there’s more, the fact that I’m blanking is worrying me :(

I think I’m in pretty good shape- this month is pretty crazy with meetings, my bachlorette, and a shower, so I tried to get as much done for my DIY in June as I could. Invites are really the big project right now. I’m a masochist and doing my own (left-handed) calligraphy so that is going to take up much of the next 6 weeks!

We’re in the 40’s and getting no help from our venue. If this continues, they will be getting no recommendations from me.

Wooooohoo for 10/10/10 brides! I remember when it was 700+ days away… oh, long engagements…

We have to do our invitations.. and then everything else are little details that can’t be done way in advance, like seating charts, picking out food, etc. Oh, and my mom needs shoes :)

I can’t believe we’re going to be in double digits tomorrow!!!

We’re huge Arrested Development fans and are playing “Final Countdown” for our entrance into the reception :)
I don’t think I have the guts to do so with a knife in my mouth and fanned out cards unfortunately though! Plus the non-Arrested Development fans would be pretty scared if we went that far with the song!

Oh my goodness, when 100 came and went, I kind of freaked a little, haha. Not that you should, of course.

My best for a stress-free 100 days!

I’m freaking!!

Still need to make another trip to the location — FI was in such a hurry I never got true measurements.

Need Tables and Chairs and linens

still need cake and pies

thought the rehearsal dinner was booked but we have to change it

need gown — yup cant find what I want

Decorations, programs, lots of DIY’s

we chose the rings but did not order yet

groom and groomsmen haven’t looked at outfits yet

no dj and FI has not created a playlist for the IPOD system

MOH (my 19 year old daughter) has not planed a shower which I want — in lieu of a bachelorette which i don’t

My hair dresser ( a good friend from High School) canceled because she cant get off work)

Ceremony wording is not finalized

Still need to discuss a few things with the florist

Still haven’t found a place to live. (Do you think Mama Geek will let the Librarian and the Geek share his apt for a while — LOL - NOT My Idea of Newlywed)

some how has bad as it looks it doesn’t look as bad as it feels — I know I’m missing stuff == I have to be missing stuff — UGG

Loving that in 100 days I will be Mrs. Geek but Stressing that 100 days is just not enough time…

Well, I’m a 10/9/10 bride and the 100-day mark has freaked me out a bit (esp when you put final in front of it!!). Time to start making those stacks of supplies into actual finished projects! I’m also in the throes of invitation creation, which has kicked my mind into paper-project overdrive, thinking about signs, menus and escort cards.

I’ve also started thinking logistics, filling in that million-page DOC questionnaire, which is super daunting! I need to pick a florist, work on the ceremony, find accommodations…OMG, find me a paper bag, stat!

I’m a 10/16/10 bride. The 100 day countdown is right around the corner. I’ll be going in for a dress fitting in a few weeks. We have venue at a restaurant so most vendors are handled. We have the photographer, hair and make-up and invitations are on the way.

Still have to finish honeymoon reservations, oot bags, moh gifts, guest welcome book, menu, favor book mark (giving to charity in lieu of favors), buy a cake topper (for one of our 8 cakes…another story), gifts for mom and dad (and FI?), make reservation for night of and night before at swanky hotel….I know there is more but I don’t have the binder handy, lol!
