In case you don’t already know… our wedding is going to have an elegant-vintagey vibe and I am doing my best to think of creative ways to bring that vision to life.
A while back I came across an oh-so-pretty picture of this lovely purple cameo (see image below)
When I saw it I thought to myself, “Wouldn’t it be great if they had a candy mold of a cameo to mold some white chocolate into…” I knew if I could find one that I would be in heaven.
With such a mold I could make the prettiest cupcakes, cookies and candies ever! And to my delight in my “Google”y goodness of a search I not only found the molds, but came across someone else who had the same idea. Check these out from Amber:
Sources Left to Right: Cameo, Swirls, Lace
Aren’t they just lovely?!?! I drooled when I saw them and I am even more happy that I found the mold online for the cameos. It’s funny how I sometimes think I am being creative, but then I learn that someone has already beat me to the punch. Either way, I am excited to recreate my own version of these gorgeous baked goods. So excited that I was inspired to paint some cookie dough canvas with some royal icing “paint” myself.
I got to work using some left over sugar cookie dough I had prepared and frozen in a prior weekend. I preheated the oven, rolled my dough, got to baking and prepped up some quick royal icing. To keep things simple I stuck to plain white icing with a purple base coat. To color my icing I added a mix of my Wilton Icing Colors: Burgundy, Violet, Brown, and Black until I achieved the color I desired.
And, in case you are interested click on over for the Royal Icing Recipe or the Sugar Cookie Dough Recipe that I used. The only differences I made was to add 1 tsp. almond and vanilla extract to the icing and to the cookie dough. I also added 4 oz of fat-free cream cheese in place of part of the butter in the cookie dough recipe because I love to make them extra soft.
A few laborious hours later and the results were decent:

Another inspiration for my dessert buffet comes from Bakerella and I am pretty sure you’ve all heard of them. Cupcake Bites! MMMMMMMMMMMM!
I am so very excited about these little bites of goodness! They are absolutely adorable and utterly delectable and I am sure I can conjure up a way to give them an old-school make-over.
Tell me hive… do you drool over these pretty desserts just as much as me? Are you planning on baking goodies for your guests?
