OMGROCKCANDYCAKE : wedding cake philadelphia Minneso1 from inspiration to reality

Source

Okay… when I saw this cake… I silently screamed.

Silently because I was at work. And then I had to tell myself to breathe.

I. Love. Rock. Candy. And how adorable is this cake from SMP? I mean… holy moly! While this doesn’t match our wedding in any way shape or form (much like the cotton craspedia bouquets), omgiwantit.

It probably wouldn’t be too difficult to make myself though… buy some bulk rock candy, smash it up, and put it up the sides of a cake? Awesome. I’ll have to think of other occasions for this, and trust me… I will.

I just silently screamed at work with you….I may actually have to do this if I can find a flavor of rock candy that wouldn’t be too weird with my cake flavors!!!

I remember when I saw this cake I allllmost called our baker and had her change our design. It would have fit our wedding perfectly. I loved our cake too, though : )

Following so many wedding blogs meant that I fell in love with SO MANY DETAILS that I couldn’t incorporate. Some because they didn’t fit, some because I didn’t have time. I have them filed away in my head for parties in the future, though!

I have an idea– what if you found rock candy in blue, deep purple, grey, or black tones and still used it for your wedding?? I think it still fits with the “glitsy city” theme you’re going for and you get to use it. No ideas for how to incorporate cotton, but this one you might be able to keep…

console yourself with visions of your guests crunching down on the rock candy and breaking their teeth… that should help sway you away…

I reminds of a dessert I had at a super fancy restaurant where they added poprocks to the hot chocolate goo to make it crackle. I love fun dessert! I can’t believe how pretty rock candy can be, that cake is oh so pretty.
