Mrs. Locket's Picture
Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law Engagement Date: June 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Heron Hill Winery About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
About Mrs. Locket

I like our engagement pics, LIKE being the key word. Unfortunately, I don’t love them.

It’s been ages since we had them taken (way back in October 2009) and I have had my ups and downs with the outcome. I could sit here and criticize them and tell you what I don’t like and why, but I won’t waste my breath.

I think a lot of my let down came from how I looked in some of the photos. I was in the process of losing some of the extra pounds I had packed on over the past year and a half and I wished I had made more progress by the time of the shoot. There is a happy ending… I was not completely disappointed and do like a select group of them and am pleased with how these few turned out.

I love how happy we look in these two:

and how cute our faces are in this one:

and I love how this one shows off our goofy side:

… and just a few more:

Overall, I think we received good photos for the price and it was a great experience (learning how to be photographed).

In the end due to scheduling conflicts and personal choices we decided to choose another photographer (the very talented Anna Simonak) for our wedding and hope to have a re-shoot of our engagement pictures with her.

The reasons being:

  1. We want to make sure we gain a level of comfort and understanding with our new photographer.
  2. We would like to get pictures of us when we feel more comfortable in our own skin (comfort=weight loss)
  3. I would like them to be a little more dressy.

I am also excited to have her because like me, she is an IC alum and close to me in age. I think this will only help in our communicating our ideas and how well she can relate to my vision.

Did you love your E-pics? Or did you have your ups and downs?

P.S. you should really check out Danielle’s photos, she is awesome!

I think these photos are gorgeous! I totally know what you mean though, I kind of had the same experience with my e-photos!

I’m totally in the same boat, I don’t love my e-pics at all. Our photographer had to bail at the last minute and referred us to one of his friends, and this guy was SO AWKWARD. The pictures turned out alright, but by no means amazing. Luckily FH agreed to a 2nd set of e-pics in Korea! :D

I think we are definitely our own toughest critics - I know I was! I’m glad that you will do a re-shoot that you’ll be happy with, but from my outsider’s perspective, I think you guys look great :)

I think they’re beautiful, but I agree that it’s important to have photos that you love! I’m glad you’ll be able to re-do them!

I really like the pictures you chose to share with us, you look great! But I completely get your reason for not liking some of the ones you didn’t share. I lost a bit of weight before our wedding, and even looking at pictures from early this year make me cringe a little!

My e-pics are coming and I am nervous. I have never done anything like that before. I’m glad that you have the chance to redo them since you are not totally happy with them (I think they look sweet). I won’t have that, my e-pics come with the wedding package I just have her portfolio and reviews to go by.

Good for you for doing what makes you happy. Better to regret one set of e-pics than to regret all your wedding pictures.

I didn’t love our e-pics because it was so damn cold out we had to wear our ugly ass jackets most of the time. And our photographer used a fish-eye lens sometimes and it made us loom dumpy, especially from behind. But we do have some truly magical shots. Yours are cute and playful, but I can understand wanting to reshoot to be more comfortable with your new photographer. Our wedding photographer is a friendor so we feel pretty confident!

those look beautiful and i completely understand how you feel about the feeling comfortable in your own skin thing and it doesn’t hurt if those sessions come with the package. I think that those pictures are great and as they say….ITHACA IS GORGES! lol
