Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Trying out the Food

July 7th, 2010 @ 6:40 pm by Mrs. Argyle

What happens when you schedule your food tasting and leave your camera at home?

You get to experience my super awesome Blackberry photos (apologies in advance!).

Last Wednesday, the Mr. and I headed down to Windows on Washington during our lunch break to taste out two of our options for dinner. We are doing a combo entree, which will contain two small portions of some sort of protein, so we would be tasting two different entrees, a side and two different salads.

So, what did we try?

Chicken Sonoma: Chicken breast with artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes and an herb wine cream sauce. Mmmmm…

Tenderloin of Beef Kabobs: Marinated beef tenderloin with a grilled portabella demi-glace

Mixed Green Salad: Mixed green salad with walnuts and raspberry vinaigrette (Can you tell we enjoyed this one?).

Everything was seriously delicious. We will be going back in the next week or so to try out some different sauces for the beef tenderloin. We weren’t fans of the portabella demi-glace, it was a bit heavy. The veggies were delicious, but given that we both love broccoli and cauliflower (and green beans), we opted for a California Medley (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and carrots).

We still have to pick out our appetizers, some of which we may have them do custom combos, so it fits with our main entree. Plus, we also have entree options for our Veggie friends, nut allergy friends and gluten free friends. I love a venue that is willing to work with you!

And, how could I forget? We will also have roasted baby gold Yukon potatoes as our other side option.

Potato heart? Coincidence? I think not.

Were you pleased with your tasting after the first visit? Did you have to tweak the menu a few times to get it perfect?

We luckily had a venue that let us pick whatever we really wanted with limited guidelines. We actually brought in recipes we thought would be great, and the venue made those, as well as one other in each category for the tasting. We ended up going with their ideas! Food looks great!

We worked out the menu beforehand on paper, then had it and loved it. We just had to add a chicken to round things out.

Your heart potato means it’s love, I’m sure ;)

The chicken sonoma looks delicious! The food at our tasting was so good, we ended up adding an additional entree to the menu. We couldn’t choose. :)
