Mrs. Locket's Picture
Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law Engagement Date: June 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Heron Hill Winery About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
About Mrs. Locket

I have always been one of those girls who drooled over hair accessories and was guilty of having an unnecessary collection of headbands, jeweled barrettes, and dolled-up hair clips. In recent years I have tamed my collection and have held back from purchasing cute hair accessories that I may or may not one day wear. But, in recent months I have relapsed and fallen into a fit of ” I want that” syndrome.

Blame it on the hours spent scouring endless wedding blogs or blame it on my pre-existing addiction… I can’t help it that every time I see a hair flower I want it and I want it now! The unfortunate part is that the price tag on some of these beauties can get pretty steep. Fortunately, I have never been one to become deterred and I am fairly confident in my ability to recreate the flowers I so longingly lust after.

Here are some flowers that caught my eye:

I love how much variety there is out there for every type of look. Personally, I am leaning towards the soft, pretty, and romantic look for the big day. But, a lot of the other styles are so fun and could be great add ons for all the attached wedding events. I am hoping to get crafty on my own to see what I can come up with. I am not typically one to follow a tutorial on things and prefer a “get to it” method where I craft now and question later. So here’s to pulling out my arsenal of fabric scraps, beads, wire and whatever I can get my little hands on! I will keep you posted on the outcome and a tutorial if I find my project worthy.

Do you love hair accessories as much as I do?

Um, I am now addicted to them, which is totally because I do nothing to my hair. I feel like I NEED a hair flower, but after crying over making a garter last night, I just don’t know if I can handle more projects.

I LOVE that first hair flower you posted. I clicked on bridal buds but can’t find where it’s from, do you know?
Thanks!

All of these are gorgeous. I always want to buy hairflowers, but then I have to remind myself that it would not be very professional to walk into work with one stuck on my head. Oh well…

I feel for you girl. I am into sparklies. I already have rhinestone clips and pins for the hair but this wedding is the perfect excuse to buy more and I get to buy them for the girls too! Yippee! Now to narrow down the list.

For money-saving brides out there, there are some really decent hair flowers/clips at H&M right now in ivory and peachy pink.

I got two ivory ones for about $5 that exactly match my dress and they totally look like an Etsy-made product!
