That’s right, folks! I finally had a brainwave when it came to what would be lining the ceremony aisle. See, we’re having a standing ceremony, with only a handful of chairs up front for our elderly guests (please don’t worry, it’ll only be for 10 minutes tops so we’re not asking way too much from people). So how do we keep everyone from standing in the aisle?
This has been a conundrum for me for quite some time. At first, I wanted to sew bunting. Then after doing that for another project, I found that not only was it time consuming, it would be difficult to pull off. Then I thought of just confetti. But people can kick that around and it would be a mess to clean up. So, what could we do?
Pinwheels! Especially when you can snag 72 from the Oriental Trading Company for twenty bucks! I had seen a blog post where these beauties were featured in a maternity shoot, and thought they looked so cute dotting the hillside. So why not have them lighting our way? It’s fun, flirty but not too girly, and whimsical while not being too childish. I love it! And Mr. SD is cool with it, too. So that means that the ceremony is all bought and paid for, ready for delivery and assembly. I love completing things six months ahead of time.

You’re right they are whimsical without beging too childish. I gave my mom some for her garden a couple of mother’s days ago.
WE are doing this! My mom made halloween pinwheels by hand for our aisle decorations. We will also have ribbon wand bouquets there too! 
I was going to make them since I bought everything, but I’m going to check out OT. Don’t tell McGroom.

LOVE this idea. We are also having a short, standing ceremony. I too, had a hard time coming up with something for the aisle. I think we are going with just daisy heads lining the aisle, but I love this idea too! Now I want to order some from OT - favors maybe?
I love this idea! You could even make pinwheels, they’re really easy! I might have to encorporate this into our ceremony. So cute!

Yay! We did this at our May wedding, and I loved it! Lots of compliments. I made our pinwheels, and they weren’t too hard, but 72 of them for $20 is a great deal!
I like these, too My florist worked with a bride who wanted it incorporated in her bouquet somehow; maybe that would work for you, too, if you were interested!

PS - These are on sale right now for $9.99. There is a negative review on the product that the wheels didn’t spin well…has anyone tried these that could provide insight?
@fleetstreetpress, I’ve tested them out a bit, and they spin pretty well. The catch would be that the diameter is a bit small, so unless they’re pointed directly in the direction of the wind they probably won’t spin. But as I’m using them for their color and shape (not function) I’m really not too concerned. I mean, it would be cool for pictures, but I have a feeling 70 spinning pinwheels would be a bit noisy…
LOVE! I have been trying to figure out WTF to do for our escort “cards” and I think this just might be it! They are yellow which is one of our colors and I was thinking I could attach a little tag with the name and table number. So cute!!
