A couple weeks ago, I had the honor of attending Hottie Chel’s wedding. She’s my long time high school buddy and a brideswoman at my wedding. It’s fun being a guest at a friend’s wedding. It’s even more fun being a bride at a wedding. As a regular guest, the details sometimes don’t make as much of an impact as it does when you’re a bride who is either planning a wedding or who has planned a wedding. I was in awe and shock walking around Hottie Chel’s wedding.
I just wanted to share some of her personal touches and let her know that they definitely went noticed and ADORED!
The invitation suite definitely gave me a sense of what I would be in for as a guest.
You got your escort cards on this large cork board at the entryway:

How adorable is this guestbook station?!?! She took an old T.V. set and had a photo montage going. It was cute AND creative! There was definitely a crowd around the guestbook table trying to watch the photos.

Even though the couple had a photo guestbook. They also had an old typewriter for guests to type notes for the bride and groom. Being a wedding planning bride myself, I had to use the typewriter when I saw that others weren’t using it. It took a little work and a lot of help, but I figured it out. My sad muscle-less fingers couldn’t type hard enough on this baby. I had to use my two index fingers like a little kid in order to type. Too fun! Too fun!

At our tables, we saw this awesome slam book! Talk about a throwback to our middle school days. If you’ve never heard of a slam book, you’re totally missing out. Slam books have a question or prompt at the top of each page. You pass it around for each person to fill out their response on the page. They had such questions as “favorite love song” and “favorite pick up line”.

Each guest had the following at their seat: a raffle ticket and a bag for goodies. I love how they strung their theme throughout and used the same font on everything.

Did I mention that I won $5 from the raffle? OK, so it was actually the friend who sat next to me who won it. I claimed it for her while she was getting some fresh air. I can be kind every now and then, too.

Mini cupcake centerpieces! Doubling up, baby! Now that’s a smarty pants move. It’s both dessert AND a centerpiece. I dig it.

One of my favorite ideas that Hottie Chel had involved a Hula Hoop contest to decide which tables got to head to the buffet first. Chel had already hand picked the contestants to represent each table. Talk about fun guest participation coming at an unexpected time! See the Hottie on the left? She represented my table. Can you tell that she’s also a trained Tahitian dancer? Yup, our table got to head to the buffer before the other table.

Congratulations Hottie Friends! You made me want to go home and figure out how best to get our guests involved in the details of our own wedding day.
